Solomon Brunson

The beloved Solomon Woodrow Brunson, 61, son of the late Henry L. Brunson and Clarice Rainey Brunson was born the fourth of six children on July 11th, 1955 in Florence, SC. He departed this life August 12th, 2016 in love surrounded by his wife and daughter in Uconn John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington, CT. Solomon was educated in the Meriden Public School System where he was a star basketball athlete known as “The "Chief” who seldom misses foul shots" and was a 1973 graduate of H.C. Wilcox Technical School. After graduating high school he moved to Middletown, CT where he soon became employed at Pratt & Whitney and worked over 42 years as a Machinist to be a provider for his family. On September 1st, 1974 a stunning woman by the name of Ruby caught his eye and took his breath away who he would then ask to be his wife and they were married on June 19th, 1982. From this union the pride and joy of his heart his daughter Rachel was born four years later on November 28th, 1986. Solomon was a very family oriented man who believed in God, who was also the cornerstone for his family and cared and loved them dearly. Once he had his driver license he made sure to drive his mother to work daily especially in snow storms to make sure she didn't have to clean off her car and was being picked up in warm car and made it home safely at night. Anyone that mess tried to with his sisters they knew they could call on their brother to come running and make them feel better with his wry sense of humor and wisdom. A major milestone in his life that made his heart complete was the on July 23rd, 2012 with the birth of his twin grandchildren Dacori and Dior. The name that he taught them to call him is "King Solomon Granddaddy Brunson" and he would smile from ear to ear when they said it. He greatly enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, bowling (especially in the father and daughter league with his daughter), driving his Corvette, riding his motorcycle, watching football and he was a fan of Dallas Cowboys, traveling and trying new restaurants with his wife and dancing in his man cave with his daughter and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Henry L. Brunson, maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. William T. Rainey, older brother Henry C. Brunson and baby sister Beverly B. Johnson. Solomon leaves to cherish his memory his mother Clarice Rainey Brunson of Ocala, FL, his devoted wife of 34 years Ruby McKnight Brunson of Meriden, CT, his only child Rachel A. Brunson of Meriden, CT, his two older sisters Angela (Frank) Hauzeur of Ocala, FL, Linda Muwakkil of Fort Worth, TX, brother Darrin C. Brunson of CA, grandson Dacori A. Russell of Meriden, CT, granddaughter Dior A. Russell of Meriden, CT, godson Brandon Brunson of Atlanta, GA, his best friend/brother since the 4th grade Donald Jones of New Britain, CT, his dear friend Charles (Pete) Mazon of Waterbury, CT, his close work friend Vanessa Sansbury of Cromwell, CT, his great-nephew that prepared him to be a grandfather D’Andre M. Hayes, a host of brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, co-workers, neighbors and many dear friends.
