Sharon Dortche

With Deep Sorrow and Profound Sympathy Sharon was born on November 28, 1958, and on January 7, 2026, she peacefully entered Eternal Rest. Sharon was educated by the New Haven School system where she attended South Central Community College, Stone Academy and Albertus Magus. She dedicated years of service in the medical field where her compassion and commitment to helping others were evident to all who knew her. She worked at St. Raphaels and retired as an ECG tech. She later retired as a program director at Sojourners Place leaving behind a legacy of care and advocacy. Sharon was devoted to her family where she poured unconditional love into every generation. She leaves to cherish her children; Tanya Tolson, Brandon Tolson and Jamar Dortche all of Richmond, Andrew Dortche, Reggie Neal, Ramisha Harris and Dewayne Harris all from New Haven. She is survived by her Sister Deborah (Robert) Tolson- Furlow, Susie Green of Arkansas, James Green of New Haven. Grandchildren; Breanna Jacobs from Richmond, VA, Teshan Stewart Jr of New Haven, Jerimiah of Florida, Ze’naya Tolson, Raequoun and Jacquoun Johnson, and Great Grandchildren Marcus, Jhasai, Kingsley and Nalorie of Virginia, Reggie Neal, Jada Neal, Iyanna Neal all from New Haven. In addition, she leaves behind a host of sisters and brothers and longtime friend-sister in Christ, Ms. Sharon Lewis, Godmother to her children. She was preceded by her mother Phyllis Tolson, Father Clifford Freeman and Sister Crystal Green. Over the years of her serving the lord she has blessed many ministries with her love, gifts and talents. She participatedin Usher Boards, Youth and Women’s Ministries as well as created Summer and Dancing Camps. Her heart was devoted to helping others and that continued at her church, Empowerment Christian Church. She was always looking for ways to uplift, encourage and bless others. Sharon was known for creating thoughtful homemade gifts, sharing words of wisdom that touched hearts and Changed lives. She also found joy in cooking, baking, sewing and expressing herself through her own unique sense of style, and watching romantic movies, cooking shows and listening to Gospel Music. Her life was a testimony of Love, Service, Generosity and Faith. Though she will be deeply missed her spirit lives on through the many lives she touched and her legacy of love she leaves behind.
