Roy Marrow

Roy Carnell Marrow was born on December 4, 1951 to the late Zeb Marrow and Beulah Martin Marrow. He peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Midstate Memorial Hospital, in Meriden, CT. Roy was raised in Clarksville, Virginia and graduated from Bluestone Senior High School in 1970. Shortly thereafter Roy relocated to Meriden, Connecticut and began working at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He remained a faithful employee until he became ill and retired in 2007. While in high school Roy would be a member of the school’s basketball team and would bring his love for basketball to Connecticut as he became a member of LaRosa Construction’s Team for Meriden’s Basketball League during the 1990’s. Not only did he enjoy the sport of basketball but he also proved to love golfing with his brother Marvin and cousin Carter Nelson or just enjoying a lazy day out fishing at any one of Meriden’s Lakes. Roy attended church while growing up in Clarksville with his family and carried that love for God in his heart continually until he chose to be baptized and become a member of Bethel Apostolic Church in Middletown, Connecticut in 1993. Some would say that Roy Marrow was a difficult man but yet still they could not deny his smile and warm heart was always readily available to any and everyone who truly knew him. Throughout his years of being ill, Roy fought the good fight of faith time and time again as he would say, “ When the Good Lord gets ready for me He will come get me.” God has truly called him home to rest and his race has been run. WELL DONE ROY! There will be many left that will mourn his passing and of those will be his former wife, Valerie Marrow and their two children, daughter Latasha Marrow and son Trevoy Marrow all of Meriden, Ct. A special friend, Sharon Vereen and their two children, daughter Shalene Vereen both of whom reside in Snellville, Ga and son Royshan Marrow who resides with his paternal aunt, Ivy Marrow of Henrico, Va. Two brothers, Marvin Marrow Sr. (Pat) of Meriden, Ct and James Marrow Henrico, Va. Four additional sisters, Dorothy Marrow of Meriden, Ct, Barbara Lucas (Willie) of Raleigh, North Carolina, Shirley Barnes of Richmond, Va and Clara Bacon of Clarksville, VA. Six Grandchildren: Tyshon Shields, Jayliek Escoto, Jujuan Escoto, Trevaya Marrow, Trinity Marrow and Trevoy Marrow, Jr. all of Meriden, CT. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of cousins and friends. Beside his parents, Roy was predeceased by a brother-inlaw, Tyree Bacon.
