Rosie Ellison

Rosie Manning Ellison, age 88. of New Haven, CT, departed this life on December 12,2024 at home surrounded by her children. She was born on October 2, 1936, in Haynesville, Louisianna to the late Mr. Jim Manning Sr. and Mrs. Bunie (Kirsky) Manning. Rosie was the first of five children, Jim Jr., Betty Jean, Reonie, and Joseph. Rosie moved to Summit (Argo), Illinois as a young child where she attended school. She was a member of the Argo Temple COGIC. Rosie met and married Louis T. Ellison at an early age. Shortly after marrying her spouse, they moved to New Haven, CT in 1955 to start a new life and raise a family. Rosie spent many, many years as a devoted mother raising her 8 children before entering into the workforce. Rosie was employed as a hotel maid at Taft Hotel, and later in life was employed as a switch builder at JBT Switches for 15 years until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking and playing cards. She enjoyed old movies. She enjoyed growing plants inside and outside, and watering them with her homemade egg water. She was kind and quiet with a big heart. Rosie leaves to cherish her memories 1 son Louis Ellison Jr. of New Haven, CT, 6 daughters, Rosemary Ellison-Lester and Linda Frost (Danslee), all of New Haven. CT; Deborah Jones (Melvin) of Roxbury, MA; Priscilla Rush (Wesley) of Lowell, MA; Annette Ellison (Terrence Biggs) of Ansonia, CT; and Jeanette Boomer (Marc, Sr.), of Hamden, CT.; sister Betty Davis, of Maywood, IL; brother. Joseph Sylvester Manning (Faye), of Country Club Hills, IL; son-in-law Alder Frank Junie Douglass of New Haven, CT; brother-in-law Roger Ellison (Mary) of New Haven, CT; sister-in-law Addie Green of Hamden, CT; sister-in-law Marie Ellison of Hamden, CT; 42 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, Rosie was predeceased by her sister Reonie, brother Jim Jr (aka Pete), husband Louis T. Ellison, daughter Constance Ellison-Douglass, son-in-law Robert Lester, brother-in-law Willie Davis, brother-in-law Claude Ellison, Sr., sister-in-law Edie Mae Orange, brother-in-law James Green, and in-laws Cleveland and Doshie Ellison.
