Naadir G.L. Lyles

Naadir George Lamar Lyles, 29, entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 14, 2021. He was born in New Haven, CT on February 22, 1992 to Taneeka Burke and Lloyd Jacobs. From the age of three years old, Henry Smith raised Naadir as his biological son and Naadir knew him as his “Pop.” Naadir attended both New Haven Public Schools and Hamden Public Schools graduating from Betsy Ross in 2006 and Hamden High School in 2010. Naadir joined the Army National Guard in 2011. He graduated basic training at Fort Sill, OK where he was in Delta Battery 1st Battalion, 40th Field Artillery. He graduated from the Advanced Individual Training in Fort Gordon, GA. Upon completion of this training, he joined the CT National Guard. The National Guard truly gave him a sense of purpose and you could really see the passion in his eyes for his work. He served as a Signal Support System Specialist (25U) where he was pivotal in maintaining the equipment that needed to consistently work in order for commanders to stay informed, track, and direct the movement of troops. This was the perfect role for Naadir as it allowed him to blend his love of computers and technology while also serving as an essential member of a team. Naadir had a beautiful voice and was a member of the Unity Boys Choir as a child. He taught himself how to play the piano and had a general love for many different genres of music. He loved movies, especially Marvel films and video games. He was great on the basketball court and growing up could be found battling it out on the court with his cousin “brothers” (David, Snoop, Larry, Davon, J.R., Erik, Jahmar and Carl) and just enjoying his family. Naadir knew a little bit about a lot of things and he didn’t shy away from giving you his opinion. He was a kind and genuine soul who was always willing to help in any way that he could. He was smart, funny and had a smile that literally lit up any room he walked in. He is survived by his parents Taneeka Burke (Chris Burke) and Henry Smith. His biological father, Lloyd Jacobs, Jr. (St. Croix). His girlfriend Ashley Nelson and her daughter Morgan who affectionately referred to him as “reindeer”. Sisters, Shanna Taylor (Joseph Taylor), RaiShonna Costin (FL), Adaijah Smith and Jahdaih Smith, Lenisha Jacobs (FL) and Kimaya Jacobs (St.Croix). Brothers, Markel Smith, Tyenell Lyles, Joshua Smith, Henry Smith and Taheem Jacobs (MD). Great-Grandmother, Josephine Lyles. Grandmothers, Edith Peters of Hamden, CT, Jean Jacobs (SC) and Louise Smith. Nephew, Joseph Taylor and niece Janelle Taylor. Aunts, Karleka Norman (Stephen), Tasha Lee (Travis) and Nicole Jacobs (FL). Naadir was loved by many and leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, God-Parents and friends. Naadir Lyles was predeceased by his grandfather George Lyles and his uncle Leon Jacobs (FL).
