Mark Bowman

Mark A. Bowman of New Haven, Connecticut, departed this life unexpectedly on June 18, 2026, at the age of 61. He was born on April 2, 1965 to the late Sam and Delores Bowman. Mark was raised in West Haven "Westside", Connecticut. He attended school through the West Haven Public Schools System. Mark was a talented athlete whose love for basketball began at an early age and remained with him throughout his life. As a teenager, he played for Bilco and became well known on the courts of Miami Street and Glade Street, where he spent countless hours enjoying the game he loved. A devoted New York Knicks fan, Mark was especially excited to celebrate the team’s recent championship! He is a veteran and was enlisted with the Army, 82nd Airborne Division, in Fort Bragg North Carolina. Following his years of service in the military he spent the remainder of his career as a Truck Driver. Currently, employed at Colony Hardware. Mark had a relationship with the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ at young age. Later in life he was baptized at Immanuel Baptist Missionary Church. Mark leaves to cherish his loving memory children; Markie L. Bowman, Mark Bowman (Kaila T. Blau), Marquaya Blackwell (Jaquel Blackwell), and Jasmine Blade. Grandchildren; Aaden and Nova Kelly, Rhylee Blackwell, Jonas Blade, and Ezra Akila-Orion Bowman. Sister; Jewel Bowman. Mark shared close bonds with his nieces and nephews, April-Tyease' Bowman, Mi'Nessa Sumler, Mi'Nisha Sumler, Samantha Sumler, Samuel Sumler, Edward Sumler, Wallace Taylor, and Shayla Martin. Mark also leaves his Life Partner; La'Shell Sellers. Special cousins; Lisa Anderson, Tracy Bowman-White, Marvin Williams, and Michael Williams. He reunites in eternal rest with his beloved parents, brother Samuel Curtis Bowman, and sister Juanita Sumler. Mark will be remembered for his love of family, close friends, his passion for basketball, his dedication to his work, and the many lives he touched along the way. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit, love, and memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
