Lucille Mama Mabery

Lucille Hanna Mabery born June 6, 1944, entered into eternal rest Saturday, May 9, in the company of her family in Atlanta. Lucille was born to the late Gladys PoweHanna Watson and the late James Howard Hanna in Florence South Carolina. At an early age the family relocated to New Haven, Ct. Lucille was a graduate of James Hillhouse High School in 1963 and married the late Lawrence Carter Mabery that same year. This union produced two beautiful Girls, Stephanie and Pamela Mabery. Lucille’s place of employment for over 25 years was with Starter Company after that she tempted for Kelly Service for five years, Bently Western for three years to her final place of employment for over nine years until unable to work for Covidien. Lucille had a beautiful voice, she sang with Julius and the soul corruptors being known as Disco Lady. Lucille also used her gift to sing at many Church events and functions. She also sang at many funerals or wherever she was needed. Lucille lovely know as Mama and The Neighborhood Grandmother was involved with Pop Warner Organization for over 17 years as Team Mom, where she would run drills with the children, stay with them until parents came to pick them up, helped with buying supplies for the children and helped children with personal needs as she became aware of them. Would bandage and make wounds feel better. Whenever going to Mama’s house you would at any given time find half the neighborhood there being fed, given love and attention or whatever was needed. Mama had a great love and special love for children, not just her grand’s and great grand’s, but every child she came in contact with. Mama would treat every child with the same love and concern for their well-being whether she knew you for 5 minutes or 10 years. Mama had a great love for sports and especially Emmit Smith whom she met in person while working for Starter. Mr. Smith would come to her department with a new picture every time he came to town. She had many autographed pictures of him all over her house. Mama was also known to walk everywhere she went, it was next to impossible to get her to take a ride. She leaves to celebrate her life: Two daughters, Pamela Mabery of Atlanta GA, Denise Randall of New Haven CT. one Son in-law Scotty Barner of Atlanta GA; Two Sons Freddie Randall(Annette) of West Haven CT, Broderick Randall of New Haven CT. Two sisters Louise Harris- Herring(Otis) of New Haven CT and Mary T. Clayton of Melbourne FL. One Brother James Howard Hanna of Cheraw SC. Five Grandchildren; Jazzerae Mabery of New Haven, Richard Benson, Tyrone Brown, Terrance Brown and Jimela Mc Phaul of Atlanta GA. Two Great Grandchildren Ja’Twan Joseph Robinson and Ra’mirel Lawrence-Coleman Mabery of New Haven CT. Mother in-law, Bernice Allick Gilmore, Three sister in-laws; Linda Council of new Haven, Evangelist Aurora Grant (Rev. Leroy) of Hamden and Josephine Allick Keating of Delaware. There were too many people that held a Special place in the life of Lucille(Mama) to name them all but to name a few: Joshua Ferreira, Tia Scott, Charlene Scott, Derrick Cannon, Kwazel Harris, Shawn Edoimioya, Saamir Hill, Gena Little, Broderick Randall ll, Brandon Randall, Juwan Wiggins, Patrick Mosley, Brittany Gilmore, James Hammett, Willis Brooks, Keron Troutman, Monique Pouncey, Pamela Brown and Tatyana Randall. A host of other relatives and Friends. Lucille(Mama) was predeceased by her parents, husband, Brother Lee Curby Hanna; Daughter Stephanie Mabery, Grandson Lawrence Mabery, Daughter in-law Costella Boyd Randall; Father in laws Joseph Allick and Lawrence Carter Sr. Three Brother in-laws Joseph David, Murton Gary, and Alfredo Ricardo Allick. A very Special Uncle Howard Powe.
