Khristian Smith

On Sunday November 6, 2022 Khristian received her wings surrounded by love. Khristian "Khris" Smith was born on Saturday July 31, 1965 along with her twin sister Christine to Frank Tate and the late Yvonne Smith in Greenville, Alabama. She then relocated to New Haven, CT with her mother and brother where she attended the New Haven School system. She attended Clinton Avenue Elementary School, Fair Haven Middle School and Wilbur Cross High School where she graduated from in 1983. Khris became an employee at AAA of Hamden for many years before becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant in 1994. Khris became an employee of the Clifton House Nursing home in New Haven before her early retirement in 2017. Besides working she was an amazing, supportive, caring, nuturing, loving mother to her bundle of joy Autumn. She was able to teach Autumn everything that her mother taught her and then some. Khris enjoyed having fun, taking road trips anywhere but mainly to see her mother in Alabama, until she became hip to flying. Going out to eat, playing cards and board games, watching movies, shopping, couponing, taking selfies, and cooking family recipes. She also loved talking on the phone, Khris “the hold on Queen” was known for telling you to hold on and never clicking back over, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, sharing childhood memories, and reading the Bible, "her good book". Khris grew up in church, she attended House of God Church formerly of New Haven with her mother and siblings. Khris accepted Christ into her life at an early age. Then rededicated her life back to Christ as a member of Cornerstone Christian Center of Milford in 2001, where she enjoyed receiving the word in the sanutary or live stream. She also enjoyed hearing the praise and worship team singing, she even joined them for a short period of time. There are so many memories about Khris that we all will never forget. Khris had an infectious smile that could light up the world and any room no matter what the occasion was. She had something about her that would make you forget that you were mad and who you were mad at, her sweet low voice was so soothing. She was a beautiful soul with such a giving and forgiving heart. A heart of gold. Khris was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, aunt and friend. She leaves to cherish many memories with her only beautiful daughter Autumn Christine Smith of New Haven, sister Jennifer Smith of Alabama, special sister Stella Willams of New Haven, aunt Mamie "Bunch" Brown of Florida, her favorite and only niece Tacarra Lawrence of West Haven, two nephews Joshua Smith of Colorado, Jonathan Smith of Alabama, four special great-nephews Ty’Jier & Ty’Jour Cooper, Tremar Smith of West Haven and Jonathan Jr of Alabama, her favorite and only great niece Tanay Smith of West Haven, favorite cousin Toni Nixon, loving friends Lisa Watts-Thomas, Darlene Lawrence, Bonnie Custid, and Robin Reid, Godmother Rosa Joyner and a host of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her Mother Yvonne Smith of Alabama, her twin sister Christine Smith and brother Reginald “Trent” Smith of New Haven, her maternal Grandparents Annie Lee "Big Momma" Waters and Owen "Big Daddy" Smith Sr. uncles Owen Smith Jr, Jefferson Smith, Johnnie Smith and Melvin Smith, aunts Annie “Lois” Pitts, Judy Nixon, and Ellis “Nita” Peagler, special cousins Monica Smith-Waddell, Solomon "Butch" Smith and best friends Veronica “Pudding” Thorpe and Brenda Harris.
