Karolena Gamble

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith . . . Karolena “Dollie” Gamble, 77 passed away Sunday, December 26,2021 at her home in Derby, Connecticut Karolena was born July 8, 1944 to the late John Author and Lucille Montgomery Gamble Dollie loved her family and she enjoyed spending time with them one of the ways she expressed her love was through her cooking. She could give you a recipe but no measurements because she was a “down home cook” she taught her girls to cook in that same manner. Dollie especially loved making meals for the late Bishop Aaron Gore Sr. and family. She was a caregiver by profession. She took care of the sick and the elderly because of her sweet spirit all of the families loved her and she was always in high demand. Dollie has many names-Mommy, grandma, mama, Gigi and aunt Dollie. She was aunt Dollie to so many people. She was loved because she gave love. She loved to talk and she would tell you about yourself, in love she felt it was her right and her duty. She was the oldest remaining sibling so she was “in charge” of the family. She was respected, honored, loved and adored by this family. She will be missed but her presence will always remain with us. Karolena is survived by her loving children Naomi Benson of Hampton, GA, Alfreda (Felon) Anderson of Moncks Corner, SC, Alfred (Kimberly) Gamble of New Haven, CT; Sheena (David) Gamble-Mabery of Derby, CT; Torrence Gamble Sr. of New Haven, CT, Shenetta (Alex) Middleton of St. Stephens, SC; 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren her special caretaker/granddaughter Alisha Moore; God Daughters Debra Keeton-Via and Denise China-Johnson and a special baby A’sani Maddox; sisters in laws Faith Gamble of St. Stephens, SC, Mildred Gamble of Greeleyville, SC and a host of relatives and friends. She also survived by her brothers Leroy (Joyce) Gamble of New Haven, CT Lavern (Norma Lee) Gamble of Clarendon, NC, Ronald (Jannice) Gamble of Greeleyville, SC, Julius (Philippine) Gamble of Greeleyville, SC and a Sister Debra (Billy) Patterson of Lane SC Karolena was predeceased by her son Kevin Winfrey Sr., grandson Torrence Gamble Jr.and her sisters Mattie”Tootsie” Driffin, Helen”Bill” China and Marilyn Gamble. Brothers John”Buck” Willie”Herman” Sam, Larry Gamble; maternal grandmother Ella Scott Burgess and her Paternal grandmother Ella Daniels and sister-in-law, Ann Ree Gamble
