Gladys Martin

Gladys Martin departed this life of May 31, 2025. She was born on October 6, 1944, in Greenville, South Carolina to the late Gladys Lawrence and James Lawrence. Gladys moved to New Haven in 1955 where she attended Fair Haven Middle School and graduated from Wilbur Cross High School with the class of 1962. She married the love of her life Ernest Martin in 1971 and they were married for 47 years. She worked at Sargent for 10 years and transitioned into Pratt & Whitney for 25 years where she retired. Gladys was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Johnson. In her spare time, she loved spending time with her siblings, Robert, Suzanne and Aunt Fannie May. She leaves to cherish her great and fond memories to her children: Adrianne Douglas (Russell Douglas), Ann Mitchell, Sherry Berry, William Lawrence, Mark McIntyre, Christopher Lawrence (Phyllis Lawrence), Dawn Martin, Ernest Lee Martin, grandchildren: Kamiya Brewer (Bishop Charles Henry Brewer III), Georgina Knox, Keerome Lawrence (Jamie Lawrence), Brandon Zanders, Ebony Brown, Vernasia Miller, Latonya Mitchell, William Baldwin, Titus Lawrence, Tyshek Lawrence, Karissa Lawrence, Christopher Lawrence (Tiana Lawrence), Kyra Lawrence, Andre Martin, Asia Martin, Jennifer Martin, great grandchildren: Chazidy Jones, Journey Lytle, Ryan Redmond, Kaiden Lawrence, Kennedi Lawrence, Kobi Lawrence, Zane Zanders, Tory Robinson, Jayce Smith, Justin Smith, Jeffery Smith, Emersyn Soto, Eastyn Soto, Erielle Soto, Lawrence Mitchell, Cameron Christopher Lawrence, Aubree Martin, Aaliyah Martin, Andre Martin Jr, Nasir Martin, Ace Martin, Iyonna Martin, Bryce Martin, Erie Salters, Legend Baldwin, Malici Baldwin, great great grandchildren London Granger and brothers, Robert Lawrence sisters Suzanne Patrick, Olivia Clements, and Linda Billy Gillard She was predeceased by her beloved husband Ernest Martin, son Keith Martin, grandson, Eric Bernard Salters, mother, Gladys Lawrence, father, James Lawrence, sisters, Fannie Anderson, Geraldine Lawrence brothers, Asa Lawrence and James Lawrence The family of Gladys Martin would like to give a special thank you to Yale Geriatrics Center, Assisted Living Homecare, St. Raphael Hospital, Veronica Price, Lakeisha Simpson and Masonic Care.
