Carl Crocker Jr.

Carl Crocker, Jr. was born on November 20, 1944 to the late Carl Crocker, Sr. and Geneva Bell in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. Carl went home to be with the Lord on the early morning of November 7, 2022, around the same time he would normally be sitting up in his chair in the corner watching the morning new. Carl attended the public school system in Kings Mountain, North Carolina and subsequently relocated to New Haven, CT and stayed with his Uncle John. He worked as a sanitation worker while seeking gainful employment. He often shared his story of his determination to gain employment. at Rockbestos Wire and Cable Factory located in New Haven, CT. He would go daily asking each day are they hiring? One day, it was raining and hailing, and the plant manager said if anyone come in on a day like today looking for work, they must really want a job. Carl indeed was the one who showed up looking for work on that rainy day and was hired on the spot. Carl remained employed with Rockbestos for over 20+ years until he retired. Carl had many nicknames, including "Papa Charlie" by his late wife Daisy and "Cat Jack" by family members. He had a genuine love for cooking, which was taught to him by "Mother" as he always called her. He enjoyed spending time on his boat fishing with friends and catching those delicious porgies. He looked forward to attending the car racetrack events, attending family reunions, homecomings at Delaware State University and planting his many vegetables in his garden. Carl was an avid football fan and his favorite team was the Pittsburgh Steelers. Carl was raised in the church by his parents and knew the Lord for himself. He was a "Silent Prayer." Carl had a true love for ALL people, especially his family and close friends. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time listening and encouraging his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Always stressing the importance keeping your head in the books in hopes of getting good jobs. Carl leaves to cherish his memory: His loving children: Darlene McAllister (Walter) of Columbia, SC, Michael Crocker (Sharmane) of Meriden, CT, Curtis Jackson and Shirley Joyner of West Haven, CT. His loving brothers: Roosevelt Crocker of New Haven, CT, Michael, Ricky and Scotty Crocker all of Kings Mountain, NC. In-laws: Rebecca Hamilton, of New Haven, CT, Cloria Brunson (James), of Humble, TX, Jesse Jackson of Pontiac, MI, Rose Brown (Herb), Sadie Floyd (Tony), O.C. Jackson (Ramona), John Jackson (Ernestine) and Tom Jackson (Claudine) all of Phoenix City, Alabama. 5 Grandchildren: Walter McAllister, Jr., Andrew McAllister of Columbia, SC, Marquis Crocker of New Haven, CT, Karissa and Kayla Jackson of Lawrenceville, GA. 3 Great Grandchildren: Zymere Crocker of Bridgeport, CT, Serenity Crocker of Columbia, SC and Davari Crocker of New Haven, CT. Additionally, Carl leaves a Special Cousin Ezell Bell, Close friend & neighbor William Taylor and Special niece Loriea' Crudup whom he always referred to as his little Engineer as well as a host of other family and friends. Carl was predeceased by his loving wife Daisy Jackson Crocker, son Carl Crocker, III, his parents, only loving sister Grace Ann Byrd, brothers Larry and Bobby Crocker. Some of Carl's Final Words included him saying, "God Does Things That No One Else Can Do". His Memory, Gentle Spirit, and Legacy shall continually live on through his Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
