Mr. Bruce William Morrison

Bruce William Morrison, 75 of West Haven, CT. affectionately known as Mickie or Mayor, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT. Bruce was born on April 12, 1938, in Boston, Massachusetts, son of the late Alberta Morrison. He was a sailor in the United States Navy where he served in England & Texas. Bruce loved people and those that got to know him loved him. He worked in many positions that allowed him to meet people. The last position held by him was being a maintenance technician at Spring Realty where he gained the name "The Mayor" for the special relationships he developed with the stall and residents. He married Delores Stewart Austin Morrison on September 20, 1984 and together they raised a combined family of seventeen (17) children. Bruce was a very kind and gentle soul that demanded respect, and had a loving and generous heart, and was always giving to others. If you didn't want to hear it like it was, Bruce was not the one to talk to. He was known for telling you just what you needed to be said whether you liked it or not(especially if you asked). He enjoyed watching sports, spending time with family and friends and putting smiles on the faces of those that loved him and those he loved. He leaves memories of cookouts and humor, music, entertaining, to be cherished by his loving wife Delores Austin Morrison, his children, Chastity Moore, Sheila (Terry) Williams and Tanya Williams of West Haven, CT., Clarissa Nelson (Namon Townsend) and Karen Barker(Dave Norman) of New Haven, CT, Delores Laws, Clarence Austin (Cynthia Bridgeforth) of Bridgeport, CT., Edwaed Austin (Shonda Green) of Stratford, CT., Wanda (Douglas) Brown-Thompson, of Edison, New Jersey, Mamie Austin of Brockton, MA.,Regina Morrison and Robert Morrison of Boston, MA.,Perry (Kimberly) Austin of Chesapeake, VA., Thomas Austin of Newport News, VA.,and Robert Williams of Tampa, FL., sister Carol (James) Dryden of Dorchester, MA.,.14 children, 41 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, 2-brother in laws, Waddell (Sandy) Helps of Framingham, MA., John Helps (Tiffany Tolbourne) of Queens, NY, sister in law, Mary (Mark) Martin of Townsend, NJ., two special friends, Joseph Poindexter and Paul (Marte) Lakay and a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Blackwell, a son Allen Denby, a niece, Patricia Morrison and a nephew, Troy Morrison. Interment will be private.
