Betty Jackson

Mother Betty Louise Jackson, 81, of Hamden, Connecticut, transitioned home, surrounded by family, on July 19th, 2026. The world has lost an incredible woman in Betty Jackson -- a prayer warrior, a confidante, a loving community member, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Joyfully, heaven has gained a choir member, siblings have been reunited, and a child of God is home. Betty first shined her light on December 26th, 1944, in Greenville, North Carolina- the fiery fourth child of Anna and Seba Wright Sr. The family moved to New Haven, CT when she was just 12 years old. Betty graduated from Wilbur Cross High School in 1963. She was an expert in the secretarial arts- typing at the speed of light and becoming an administrative maven at Yale New Haven Hospital for over 35 years. Betty was passionate about Christ, her faith, and her community. She served as a hostess at Living Word Ministries and as head of the finance ministry at Life Changing Outreach Ministries. She was a generous soul, often hiding money in handshakes for her kids and grandkids. Betty loved to dress up and valued self-presentation; she was often seen in vibrant reds and fur coats with pearls as accent jewelry. She would pray for anyone at any time, and was only a phone call away for her loved ones. Preceding Betty in death are Seba and Anna Wright; parents, Seba Wright Jr., George David Wright, James Earl Evans, Billy Ray Wright; brothers, and Gladys Flowers, sister. Betty leaves behind her siblings, Frances Belton (Willie Belton Sr.), Kay Wright, and Larry Wright. She is survived by her five children, Johnny Sessions, Dr. Lisa Grey (Walter Grey), Emerald A. Hall (Pastor Matthew Hall), Angelica Jackson, and Monique Cooper (Kamairi Cooper). She is beloved and remembered by a host of grandchildren including Kimberly, Gary, Crystal, Antonio, Brianna, Taylor, Elijah, Dallas, Mya, Serenity, Kamryn, Cadence, Noah, Travis and 10 great grandchildren. The family welcomes all who knew and loved Betty to attend with well wishes and a dash of red in honor of her favorite color. Following the services will be a burial at Hamden Plains Cemetery and a repast back at Trinity Temple.
