Ricky Vereen

January 20, 1956 - January 18, 2022

Ricky Vereen (65) of Middletown, CT, husband of the late Andrea (Copeland) Vereen entered into eternal rest on January 18, 2022 surrounded by his loving children. Ricky was born on January 20, 1956 to the late Jessie Mae (Hugee) Vereen and Willie Vereen in Middletown, CT where he was a life-long resident. Ricky was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1974 in Middletown, CT. He furthered his education at C.W. Post in Long Island, New York. He was employed by DMHAS and worked at the Connecticut Valley Hospital and retired from the Whiting Forensic Division after 35 years of service. Rick gave his life to Christ at an early age, and along with family attended Zion Baptist Church in Middletown, CT where he served in the music ministry. Family, friends, good food, music, and sports was Ricky’s passion and delight. He loved attending family gatherings. One of his favorite things was golfing, yet his greatness, joy came from doting on his granddaughter Kalila Jackson. He is survived by his son Derrick Perry (wife Dana) and two grandchildren Devyn & Daria Perry, his daughter Keisha Vereen and granddaughter Kalila Jackson, Brother John Vereen (wife Dorothy) of Syracuse, NY, sister Judy Rollins of Middletown CT and sister Rhana Vereen of Syracuse, New York. Uncle Rev. Willie Young of Middletown, aunts Ludell Murray of Hartford,CT and Daphine Hugee of Pamplico,South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends; as well as a special cousin Flora Jean Crump. Besides his parents and wife, Ricky was predeceased by his brothers Willie Vereen, Mark Vereen, Ronnie Vereen, sister Denise (Vereen) Privott and nephew Kwesi Rollins.
