Nikia M. Rankins Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Nikia Mamie Rankins, age 27, entered the gates of Heaven on July 1, 2022. Born on July 30, 1994 in Hartford, CT, she was the youngest baby girl to Velma Rankins and Roosevelt Rollins, Jr. Nikia attended all Hartford Public Schools, successfully graduating from Buckley High School in June 2014. At the time of her death, Nikia was attending Goodwin College to obtain her Associates Degree in Human Services to enhance her education and continue to support her current role as a Teacher Support Specialist at Adelbrook Developmental Services in Cromwell, CT. As she so proudly was a daughter, sister, niece, aunt and cousin, Nikia’s proudest role was being a nurturing, loving mother to her beautiful daughter Dior Heavenly McFarlane, of whom she shared with Donovan McFarlane. In her free time, when she wasn’t working, she was spending quality time with her daughter, riding her motorcycle or spending time with her friends and family. Nikia, also known as “ Kia,” “Lil Bit,” “One of the homies,” and “Lil Big Sister” will be missed by many. Alongside her parents and daughter, she will be missed by maternal grandparents Mamie Rankins of Middletown, CT and Joe Rankins Sr. (Lillian) of North Carolina. She leaves to cherish her memories, her sisters Latasha King of Hartford, CT, Lakendra Vereen of Meriden, CT and Ieashia McGill of New Haven, CT; brothers Romal Rankins of Hartford, CT, Amos Rankins of Vermont, Terrell Rankins of New Britain, CT and Shawn McGill of New Haven, CT; and a very special bonus brother, Tyron Holly of Rhode Island. To also cherish her memories, she leaves aunts, Joyce Rankins of Middletown, CT, Glenda Rankins, Laura Noland and Fayth Noland of Hartford, CT, Mechia White of Harrelsville, NC, Lisa Boone (Michael) of Ahoskie, NC, Debbie Harris (Michael) of Aulander, North Carolina, Sharon Brown (Darnell) of Atlantic City, NJ, Glenda Rollins and Beverly Noland of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Marian Street (Shawn) of Anchorage, Alaska. She also leaves uncles, Joe Rankins Jr. and David Lee Noland of Middletown, CT, Willie Rollins and Selvyn Rollins of Hartford, CT and Keon Lee of Pennsylvania. She leaves special bonds with nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren, best friends, and co-workers. To also cherish her memories are her dogs Ivy, Ruby and Harley. Nikia is predeceased by her paternal grandparents Margaret Noland and Roosevelt Rollins Sr; a special grandfather Clyde Shelton; a sister Taunya McGill; aunt Valerie Cote; and cousins Dante Davis, Kwatrema, Johaun and Gloria Rollins. Nikia’s presence on earth will be missed by many. Her legacy will live on through her beautiful daughter.
