Lynda Dawson-Wilson
March 24, 1946 - January 31, 2022
Lynda Faye Dawson- Wilson affectionately known as Ma-Faye was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the late McNeal Dawson and Erlia Mae Yates-Dawson. Lynda’s family migrated to New Haven, Connecticut when she was a young girl. She attended New Haven Public School System graduating from James Hillhouse High School in 1964. After high school, Lynda Faye tried her hand in cosmetology where she completed and earned a certificate at Harrison Beauty Academy. She later earned an Associate Degree from South Central Community College. Lynda Faye was truly a jewel on earth. This was shown through her personal, professional, and spiritual relationships. Lynda Faye worked and advocated for her community, her beloved Hill Neighborhood as she would call it, she also advocated stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS, especially in African Americans. . In 2016 Lynda Faye was awarded The Leading Woman Society Award which she was extremely proud of. Lynda Faye was also a faithful member of Thomas Chapel Church of Christ in New Haven, CT. Lynda Faye was involved with many organizations and served on many boards. These organizations include but are not limited to: SWANA, The Usher Board of New Haven, Survivors of Homicide, Ryan White AIDS Council, Wise Women Win, The City of New Haven Mayors Task Force, How are the Children and The Hill Management Team HNCMT. Lynda Faye leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband Dennoris Wilson Sr., son Dennoris Wilson Jr. of North Carolina, son in law Lionel McCullough of North Carolina, grandson Taimar Hawley Sr., granddaughter Tiffany Davis (Raquann), great-grandson Taimar Hawley Jr., great-granddaughters Teniya Warren-Hudson, Tai’Lynn Hawley and Royal Kelley. She also is survived by her 2 brothers William L. Dawson ll and John Dawson, sister Florence Mangum all of New Haven, CT, her granddaughter in love Shequeda Rowe, and lifelong friends Anne Boyd, Kathleen Tolliver, and Naomi Jenkins. Lynda was predeceased by her parents McNeal Dawson and Erlia Mae Yates- Dawson, daughter Talana-Hawley- McCullough, granddaughter Ja'mese Hudson, sisters Shirley, Patricia, and Vanessa Dawson, and one sister-in-law Burnestine Dawson. Lynda will be sorely missed by a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends near and far. If you knew Faye just remember her favorite sayings to help you get through this difficult time, “I’m Bless In All This Mess”, “To Blessed To Be Stressed” “God Got Me, and He Got It” and “God Bless”.
