Lucille Antrum Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

On Friday April 3, 2020 Flora Lucille Brock Antrum transitioned from earth to glory at Griffin Hospital in Derby, Connecticut. She was born on April 8, 1929 in Society Hill, South Carolina to the late Jesse Brock and Anna Postell Brock. Lucille was educated at Rosenwald High School in Society Hill, South Carolina and graduated in 1946. At an early age, Lucille accepted Christ as her Savior. She attended Union Baptist Church in Society Hill where she remained a member until she relocated to Connecticut. Lucille married the late Monroe Antrum on February 15, 1947. During their 63 year marriage they had two children. Lucille had many talents and places of employment which included seamstress, catering, and domestic work. She worked as a nurse for several years at Laurel Heights Hospital in Shelton,Connecticut. She was also a Past Worthy Matron of Sheba Chapter #1 Order of Eastern Star.She was a part of Helping Hands Ministry at Macedonia Baptist Church, in Ansonia, CT, before retiring and moving back to Society Hill, SC.In 1995, Lucille moved to be with her daughter and help raise her grandsons. In 2003, Lucille returned to Connecticut, where her daughter had also relocated, to be closer to her family. She was a faithful member of Abundant Harvest Outreach Ministries located in New Haven, CT where her son was the pastor. Lucille was known for her cooking from fried chicken to her pound cakes. She made sure all of her grandchildren knew the basics of cooking. Lucille was an avid watcher of the Young and the Restless, a loyal Patriots fan and enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren’s many activities. Lucille also spent her time gardening and traveling. Lucille leaves to cherish her memory her son, Curtis Antrum(Sylvia) of Hamden, CT; sister-in-laws, Bessie Edwards of Hamden, CT; Geneva Watson of San Antonio, TX; Rosa Hurt of Baltimore, MD; Anne Coley(Robert) of Washington D.C.; and 6 grandchildren, Joshua Antrum of New Haven, CT; James Lewis of Chicago, IL; Jonathan Lewis, Curtis Jalen Antrum, Justice Antrum and Janae Antrum all of Hamden, CT; one great-grandchild, Amare Lewis of Chicago,IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Lucille was predeceased by husband, Monroe Antrum; daughter, Carleen Lewis, and siblings,Pearl Brown, Theodore Motley, Augustus Motley, Willhemina Williams, Cora Venson, Harold Motley, Pandora Fountain, Mildred Midgett, Anna Downey, Helen Summerville, and Sam Brock. Lucille will always be remembered for her love of God and helping those who were in need of love and support
