Lizzie G. McKay

November 21, 1930 - January 11, 2022

Lizzie Gatison McKay was one of 11 children born to The Late George Gattison (Gatison) and Mrs. Oneatha Gattison (Gatison) of Darlington, SC. on November 21, 1930. At 21, she migrated to New Haven, CT, and wed the Late Bishop Henry McKay, Jr. Mother Lizzie McKay began her work at the UTC Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in North Haven, CT. She worked until the retirement of over 33 years. She was a devout woman of God who was a faithful member of the Joy Temple Church, New Haven, for 44years, where the pastor is Bishop Dozier C. Shields. She sang in the gospel chorus and was known for the songs leads of “Some How I Made It” and “Sweeping Through The City” and many more, served on the usher board, and was a part of various committees until joining the New Dimension Tabernacle Church, where her grandson, Pastor Willie E. McKay is the senior pastor. Mother Lizzie McKay would always talk about the LORD and praise him in church and at home and made sure everyone knew that THE LORD WAS HER HELP. We will forever cherish memories for Mother McKay will always be dear to our hearts. We should not mourn her passing, but we should rejoice as she always did, giving God the praise in song, dance and hands lifted high. She gave her all for her family, worked hard for her family so that they may reap the harvest of blessings. Now she had moved on up a little higher and was ready when her name was called. Mother Lizzie McKay leaves to mourn and cherish her memory: Surviving sons, John McKay and Ronald McKay and Bonus Son Pastor Willie E. McKay (1st Grandbaby), A host of grandkids, and great grands. Surviving Sister, Charlina Wilson, SC., Surviving Brother Roosevelt Gatison, SC., Predeceased by her son, Henry McKay; Daughter(s) Lynoria McKay and Patricia McKay-Gagum; Sister(s), Eva Bell Bishop, Mary Hall, Dorothy Smith, Maggie Ings, and Oneatha Phillips. Brother(s) George Gattison, Lucious Gattison, and Willie Gatison
