Gertrude Belton
August 8, 1931 - January 18, 2022
Mother Gertrude Belton, 90 of New Haven Connecticut passed away peacefully as she answered the call on January 18, 2022. Mother Belton was born August 8, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd T. Hamilton and Mary Brown Hamilton. She met the love of her life Sam Belton In 1947 in Folkston Georgia and were united in holy matrimony. They were married for 68 beautiful years. To this union 7 children, Lena Williams and the late Waverly Williams, Norma and Kevan Bowling, Virginia and Carlton Heath, Sam Jr., and Rosalind Belton, Sandra and Harold Flippen, Michael and Sharyl Belton, Vanessa and Patrick Jones. She was also blessed to have 31 Grandchildren, 36 Great Grandchildren and blessed with a gift of a new one soon and 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Left to cherish her memories are her siblings, Ruby Hannans of Folkston Georgia, Donevell Hamilton, of Jacksonville Florida, Mary Hamilton, of West Haven Connecticut and a host of family and friends. Mother Belton was owner of Belton Florist and serviced the New Haven County for 40 years with love and compassion which showed in the beauty of her floral arrangements. She had a gift of kindness to everyone she met. Mother Belton was member of Mt. Hope Temple Church in New Haven Where she served over 60 years. She was President of the Foreign Missions and served as one of the Mothers of the church. She was always willing to assist everyone and her greatest love; was being the caretaker to her darling husband and others at the Grime Center. Mother Belton was Pre-deceased by her loving husband, her parents Lloyd T. Hamilton, Mary Brown-Hamilton Hoskie, Stepfather Dellie Hoskie, her brother Lloyd Jr. Hamilton, Lucious Hamilton and WC Clemons, Sisters; Susie Gelsey, Ora Hall-Bostick. Mother Belton will be missed dearly. Arrangements are entrusted to McClam Funeral Home. Calling hours January 25, 2022 from 12 P.M until 1 P.M.
