Darrin Steven Gainey departed this life on Saturday, December 4, 2021. He was born on June 25, 1965, a son of Joann Gainey and Ivan Nightingale. Stevie was an artist as a young child; he even won the drawing contest in T.V. Guide in the late 70s. He loved going to church and dressed his part, always wearing a hat. His passion was being a Barber; he was called, “Steve the Barber.” He made furniture, he was a cook and worked at Siracusa Moving Company for 18 years. Stevie definitely was the life of the party. He was a jokester, kind, compassionate and when he got “THAT TASTE” yall’ better watch out. His favorite saying was “Mickey Mouse A?? NI???A. He used the phrase so much they called him Mickey Mouse the Barber in New Britain! He leaves to mourn, his mother, Joann Gainey; father, Ivan Nightingale; his wife, Tyshonya Gainey; and sister, Caren Melissa Hargett; six children, Myesha, Steven, Jr., Corey, Taylor Kapri, China and Asia Gainey; 4 bonus children, Tajaree, Jahidee, Keyonna and Myasia; 10 grandchildren, Janesse, Bailey, Tajaree Jr., Tyree, Adontayh, Jahidee Jr., Jaliyan, Winter, Starr and Khalia; nephew, Asti Butler Sr.; niece, Moet Charles; 2 great nephews, Asti Jr. and Benzor Charles; a great niece, Secret Butler; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Ray Gainey, Frances Shipman and Plez Quicksey; brother, Kenneth Bell and Nana Lillie McCrae. Farewell my brother, you will remain in my heart forever.
