Charles Brown

December 13, 1964 - June 16, 2022

Charles Brown was born to the late Minnie Brown on December 13,1964. He departed this earthly life on Thursday, June 16,2022 at the Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford CT. We are here today to honor his life and to remember all the ways that he has touched our lives. As we all know, there were things that Charlie could not do. He could not talk or do many other things that people take for granted every day. When some people looked at him, that is what they saw- the things that he could not do, but that is not what we saw and that is not who he was. He could smile, laugh, and feel happiness. Charlie could express his love with a look, smirk or with a squeeze. He showed love without condition without ever saying a word and not everyone has those abilities. There are people that have so many blessings that Charlie never had, and yet do not appreciate those blessings. They have good health, but they take it for granted. Charlie suffered many health issues, and his family was there every step of the way to advocate for him to ensure that he was receiving the best care possible. Charlie inspired others around him to try harder. By seeing him overcome his own challenges was a reminder to never take life for granted and to appreciate all that you have. Charlie also taught us how to be happy as he found joy in simple things. Charlie enjoyed watching cartoons, eating his favorite food “pork and beans” with syrup, and listening to music. Charles was also a huge jokester who loved to play around. Everyone could look to him for an example of perseverance and inner strength, as he continued to fight battles in health and limitations that would crush many of us. He showed us what it is to be strong, because strength is not just found in being the biggest, the toughest or the fastest. Strength is found in one who keeps on going, keeps trying, day after day, long after others give up. And finally, Charlie gave us the gift of beauty. His life was not easy, and it was not glamorous. There were a lot of hard times, for him and for his family and friends. But he taught us that we can see past the difficulties and find the beauty. Charlie leaves to cherish his memories, siblings, Eugene Brown (Audrey Brown), Audrey Pender, Joyce Brown, Richard Brown, as well as his extended family and an abundance of friends. We will all miss him more than words can say. Special thanks to all the staff that provided care to our dear, Bubba, over the years.
