Barbara DiBenedetto Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Barbara Miller DiBenedetto departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, in New Haven Connecticut while she was surrounded by her family at home. Barbara was born on February 5, 1948 in New Haven Connecticut to Emma T. Miller and the late Robert Miller. Barbara had many nicknames. She was called “Sis” by her brothers, “Nois” by her sisters, and “Sista” by her mother. She was also known as Aunty or Auntie Bob by her nieces and nephews. She was affectionately known as Ma and MaMa by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her signature line for her sons in love, granddaughters in love and grandsons in love… was Ma D. Barbara graduated from James Hillhouse High School. She worked for Visiting Nurse Association for many years before moving to Mt. Gilead, North Carolina in 2000, where she lived until she became ill. Her daughters brought her back to Connecticut in August 2020 to take care of her and be with her grandchildren until the good Lord called her home. Growing up in Rockview she met her love Vincent DiBenedetto. Barbara and Vinnie married in 1966. They had 4 beautiful daughters, Dawn, Kim, Tracey, and Vinise. Being a mother was her joy. She made many friends and became heavily involved in her daughter’s activities including the Parent-Teacher Association, West Haven Little League, Gloria Jeans Dance School, Brownies and Girl’s Scouts, and other organizations. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, the casino, and later in life traveling to the islands with her kids. Barbara was blessed to have close friends that became family, especially the Snipes family. She was always proud of all her kids and grandkids accomplishments, flying from North Carolina to attend every graduation. She never missed a birthday, always mailing a card and the first one to call them in the morning singing Happy Birthday. Her grandchildren and children were the joy and light of her life. Barbara leaves many to cherish her memories, daughters: Dawn DiBenedetto, Kim DiBenedetto-Rogers, Tracey Webb, and Vinise Cook. Her loving sons-in-law: Edgar Rogers, Kelvin Webb, and Jerry Cook. 14 Grandchildren: Charles DiBenedetto (Brittany), Dominique Galan (Pierre), Monique Conyers, Derek Horner (Felicia), Ivy Conyers, Barbara Conyers, Keveon Galan, Darryn Horner, Edgar Colon (Angel), Ivon Conyers, Samantha Rogers, Tinasia Carey, Justin Cook, and Vincent Cook. 13 Great Grandchildren: Kyzhon Harris, Aniya Conyers, Skye Hines, Jhionna Conyers, Madyson Mitchell, Amiya Conyers, Ivy Conyers, Isaiah Conyers, Charlie DiBenedetto, Chance Galan, Riley DiBenedetto, Kash Coggins, and Amir Galan. Barbara also leaves her mother Emma Miller, brother Levon Miller (Sondra), and sisters Marlene Pratt (Richard) and Teresa Miller (Chuck). Her loving sister-in-law Joann Miller. Special cousins Dean Turner and Cynthia King. Special friend Roberta Snipes. Goddaughter Barbara Joyner-Howard. She is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews, cousins, family, and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Vincent DiBenedetto, grandson Isaiah Conyers, brother Marvin Miller, father Robert Miller, and special cousin Butch Turner. Well Done Ma!! Your legacy will live on forever… You left your mark.
