Annie Dorsey

Annie Pearl Dorsey, 75, of Stamford CT was called home to be with the Lord, entering into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Stamford Health Hospital. Mother Pearl, as she was affectionately called, was born November 12, 1947, in Greenville, AL. to the late Willie Idell and Willie Mae Peterson. She received her education in Greenville, AL. graduating from Southside High School. Go Rams! Mother Pearl migrated to Stamford, CT in 1968. She finally succumbed to the advances of her husband of 52 years, Eddie Lee Dorsey, in 1971, when they wed. They had their first daughter, Donna a year later. Mother Pearl let it be known that she only wanted ONE child, however, Donna, wanted a playmate and their second daughter, Carla, arrived 6 years later. Mother Pearl worked as an Accounting Supervisor of Waldenbooks for over 20 years until the company closed and later retired from Bristol Myers. After retiring, Mother Pearl stayed true to her profession by doing the families taxes every year. Everyone knew to stay clear during tax season. Mother Pearl served on the Mother’s Board of God’s Miracles Unlimited since 1998 until the Lord called her home. You would never see Mother Pearl on a Sunday morning without her big brim church hat, safety pins and scarves for the ladies with the short skirts. Although she talked the entire church service, she could still tell you what the Word was. Her favorite scripture was John 3:16. Mother Pearl was also an avid reader and a major prayer warrior. She was full of wisdom and always kept it real. She would let you know if you were wrong and up to no good and would encourage and praise you when you were doing well. Mother’s greatest treasure was her family. Mother Pearl leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories, her husband, Eddie Dorsey, two daughters, Minister Donna Pinn-Walker (Shaymar), and Carla Dorsey (Jasone), both of Stamford, CT. Two granddaughters, Cyann and Skye Dickson and three grandsons, Davion Pinn, Jamai and Josiah Dickson, all of Stamford, CT. Two godsons, Jesse Ward Jr., Enfield, CT and Bobby Ward Jr., Bridgeport, CT. Two goddaughters, Tia Valentine, and Jerrica Peterson, both of Stamford, CT and one honorary goddaughter, Myra Benton-Waters (Jerome), New Haven, CT. Four brothers, Robert Thomas (Della), Grove Hill, AL, David Peterson (Cindy), Seymour, CT, Bishop Kimwood Peterson (Merita), Raleigh, NC and Maurice Peterson, Greenville, NC. Six sisters, Evang. Delois “Dee” Valentine (Gerald, her favorite), Mary Ward (Jesse) both of Stamford, CT, Christine Ward (Bobby), Bridgeport, CT, Trudy Lee, Patricia Peterson and Dorothy Marlowe, all of Greenville, AL. Sisters-in-law, Gwendoyn Fannin, Wadesboro, NC, Irene Lowery, Mae Lou Lowery, Judy Lowery and Vera Foster, all of Luverne, AL. Brother-in-law, Bass Dorsey (Ethel), Luverne, AL. Stepmother, Dana Peterson, stepsister, Gwendolyn Cook, stepbrother, Jerome Cook (Marcy), all of Greenville, AL. Two devoted friends, Mother Connie Bynum and Mother Emma McQueen and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin and her entire GMU church family. She was preceded in death by one sister, Mae Kemp, two brothers, Willie Peterson Jr., and Curtis Fannin. One niece, Jeanette Martin and one nephew, Curtis Kemp.
