Willie Dave Jackson

Willie Dave Jackson, 83 went home to be with the Lord March 17, 2017 in Yale New Haven Hospital, New Haven CT. He was born to the Louisa Peter and late Jack Campbell on July 21, 1933 in Florence County, South Carolina. Willie was raised by his aunt the late Nellie Jackson and Mr. Jackson in Dillon, SC where he attended public school. In later years he and momma Nellie moved to Mullins, SC, where he met and married Almeinia Snow. To this union they were blessed with nine children. After the birth of his first child, Willie migrated to New Haven, Ct. He got a job and was machinist at Winchester’s/Olin/ US Repeating Arms, in the 1952 and Almenia and child followed. He met his the love of his life Elaine Yvonne Woodberry and they were married Oct 1, 1980. Although they had no children, she welcomed his children to that union. After 43 year at the same job, he retired and was a Multi Setup Mechanic. He joined Bethel Temple COGIC, July 18, 1999 under the leadership of Elder James E. Pinkard. Having been chosen as a man of good report, full of the spirit and of wisdom and capable of using the office well, was set apart publicly to the office of Deacon. He was ordained Dec, 22, 2002. He respected and honored this office. His favorite scripture was Psalm 90:1 “Lord thou has’t been our dwelling place in all generations” a prayer of Moses the man of God. He sang on the male chorus and served as a Senior Usher on the Usher Board, (as faithful servant of God). He was member and became chaplain of the Original Gospel Travelers for 21 years. Willie loved sports. He was a diehard Mets fan. He loved himself some Mets. Fishing was his favorite pastime. He spent many days on the boat with his sons, and was the only man that would put in rod in the water, sleep, get a bite and catch more fish than anyone. He loved all his children and had a pecial love for Darryll, Rajshime, Tia (shorty), William, Veronica, Deyja, Larvaris Jr. (june bug), Levi (my lee) and Amari (casp). His favorite child Zyahid, his son. He leaves to cherish his memories his sons Ronald M. Jackson (Deborah), David Jackosn (Zylinda), Zyahid Jackson, his loving daughters Willena Rosemoond-Lopes (Venceslau), Worcester MA, Melinda Jackson, (James Walker), Nellie Ann McLaughlin (Michael), Laverne Jackson, Angeline Jackson Whitaker, LA, Willett A. Carr, Tia Jackson, all of New Haven, CT. He is predeceased by 8 brother Wardel Lewis, Tom Lewis, Albert Lewis, Ernest Lewis, Willis Lewis, Robert Lewis, Wilbur Lewis and Hubert Lewis, three sisters Catharine, Earlie Height, and Blanch, 29 grandchildren, 94 great gran, 12 great great grans, a host of nieces and nephews
