William Henry Douglas Jr.

William Henry Douglas, Jr. passed away peacefully at home on June 8, 2023 at the age of 70. He was preceded in death by one sibling, Patricia Robinson of New Haven, CT, and is survived by one son, Sheron Reid of Hoover, AL, six siblings, Dr. Latifah Akram of Clearwater, FL, Aneesah Akram of Marietta, GA, Sharon Douglas of Lawrenceville, GA, Trenda Lucky of Phoenix, AZ, Bishop Dr. Timothy Lucky of Philadelphia, PA, Wayne Douglas-Smalls of New Haven, CT, three grandchildren, Katelyn, Ka’Ron and Kiron, one daughter-in-law, one sister-in-law, one brother-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends. William, native to New Haven all his life, was born on August 1, 1952, in New Haven, CT to the late William Henry and Julia Mae Douglas. He grew up and attended local schools in the West Hills area of New Haven and graduated from Hill House High School in 1970. Known endearingly as OG, Chilly Willy, Chill, Uncle Wams, or Bill to those that knew and loved him, he was very tuned in to and had a profound connection and love for family and made it a point to be present at family events. He was a plumber by trade and worked hard at his profession, hardly ever missing a day of work until he retired. He was extremely independent and no nonsense–a straight shooter that told it like it was. On the other hand, he was fun loving, comical and good natured, and we were always guaranteed a good laugh and good time when he was with us. William was a generous and loyal person. Whenever it was within his means and someone he loved was in need, he was there to help. He had a special relationship with everyone that knew him. May he forever rest in internal peace for he was loved and will truly be missed by us all. We the family of William Henry Douglas, Jr. are sincerely grateful and appreciative to each of you for your prayers, well wishes and acts of kindness shown to us during the transition of our loved one. May the Creator, Most Gracious, reward and gift each of you in this life and the Hereafter. We ask that the Creator fill his grave with light and grant him entrance into paradise by any gate he pleases. We ask that the Creator forgive his sins and join him in the ranks of the righteous.
