Willia Carrington

Willia Lee Kizer Carrington lovingly known as Kip and Willia Lee was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 30, 2023. Willia was born on May 10,1935 in Bamberg, SC to the late Prince Kizer, Sr. and Eartha Lee Boatright-Kizer. Willia moved to Brooklyn, NY at the age of 9 and attended PS57. Willia attended New Haven Public Schools when she arrived in Connecticut at the age 14. Willia married her best friend, William Thomas Carrington, Sr. on August 28, 1954. Willia had many jobs she enjoyed. In her early years, she worked as a nurse’s aide in the newborn maternity unit at St. Raphael’s hospital and as a dietitian at Yale New Haven Hospital before being employed at Yale University for 22 years where she worked as a Chamber Maid before retiring due to an injury. Willia was a faithful member of St. Matthews U.F.W.B. Church of New Haven, CT for more than 70 years where she served the Lord as a Missionary. Willia loved working in the Bishop Robert J. Gay Building’s food pantry and serving the community every Saturday morning until she became ill. Willia leaves to mourn her children, Steven Carrington, Anthony Carrington of New Haven, CT, Adrian (Kia) Carrington, Sr. of Hamden, CT, Maurice Carrington, Sr., Maurice Douglas and Lynair Walker all of New Haven, CT; six Grandchildren – Franki (Melissa) Jones of Winter Haven, FL, Caprece (Marcus) Tavares, Danyelle Jones, Adrian Carrington, Jr., Asia’h Carrington, Maurice Carrington, Jr all of New Haven, CT; eight Great Grandchildren – Gerricka Jones, Sinque Tavares, Raveighn Tavares, Taylor Perry-Lambert, Brianna Rivera, Mackenzie Jones, Suni Henry and Marisa Henry; three great-great grandchildren – Kyrie Sean-Frank Jackson, Melody Atterberry and King Earl Jackson; God-daughters: Novena Gillians and Dalesha (Tyrone) Smith; along with a host of family and friends. Willia was predeceased by her husband and best friend: William Thomas Carrington, Sr., father: Prince Kizer, Sr., mother: Eartha Lee Boatright-Kizer; stepmother: Josephine Kizer; daughters: Deborah Ann Harris and Cheryl Denise Carrington-Jones, son: William Thomas Carrington, Jr. and brother: Prince Kizer, Jr. The family of Willia Lee Kizer-Carrington would like to thank you all for your kind words and expressions of love during this difficult time. The Carrington Family will be receiving family and friends on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Empire Restaurant – 53 Quinnipiac Avenue, North Haven, CT.
