Wadie R. Stanley

Wadie Roosevelt Stanley, affectionately known as "Dick," was born January 22, 1950, to the late Lillie M Doward & the late Roosevelt Highsmith in Bethel, NC. Wadie graduated from Bethel Union High School in Bethel, NC in 1968. After graduation he moved to New Haven, CT. In 1972, he married Gladys Graham. From their union, they had two children; son Toby Graham and daughter Amy (Bryant) Williams. Ather graduation, he moved to New Haven, CT where he briefly worked at Winchester Repeating Arms. He leaves to cherish his memories; son Toby Graham of New Haven, CT. daughter Amy (Bryant) Williams of Hamden, CT. 2 grandsons Phillip Counsel Jr of New Haven,CT and Jarell Graham of Hamden, CT. Stepfather Johnnie Doward of NC. Sisters Doris Doward of New Haven, CT, Rosa Jackson Norfolk, VA, Barbara Highsmith of Bethel, NC, Diane Howard of Greensboro NC and Audrey Moore of Bethel NC. Brothers Charles Highsmith of Bethel NC, Alton Ray Highsmith of Jersey City, NJ, and Michael. Highsmith of Orlando, FL Uncle William( little Boy) Stanley of New Haven, CT. A host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Stepmother Allie Gee Highsmith. Grandmother Nancy Stanley. Grandfather Wadie Highsmith. Aunt Martha Mae Doward. Sister Carolyn Birdine. Brother Donald Ray Doward. Nephew William Birdine Jr. and Uncle James Stanley. Dad, Take your rest, free from all suffering. My prayer is that you have eternal peace after a long journey of illnesses and uncertainty. With no more pain or suffering. May you find rest and tranquility, free from life's burdens. In peaceful rest, in a place where peace is endless. ~ Grateful ~ I am grateful for the times we shared and will cherish them forever. I will miss visiting you with a cup of coffee or ginger ale while enjoying your favorite snacks. I’m grateful my Sons grew up knowing who you were because I didn’t get the opportunity to meet my mother’s father. ~ No regrets ~ I have no regrets whatsoever about being your care and treatment advocate and making decisions on your behalf. This will help me on my next journey to cope without you being a part of my life and weekly routine. So get your rest, Dad. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later. Until we meet again.
