Tonia McDufie Blount

Tonia Renee McDuffie-Blount departed this life in Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven on the 19th of March 2022, after a brief fight with cancer, she was 53. Born on the 3rd of February 1969 to the parents of Shirley Louise McDuffie-Brown and Rudolph Brown in New Haven CT. Tonia attended Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, CT. Where she was studying to become a nurse. She worked with individuals with mental and physical disabilities for over 16 or more years, and was the lead usher at her church, Apostolic Community Church, now known as the Wells Experience Church of Meriden, CT. Tonia had many hobbies, she made jewelry, loved painting and drawing, she also started her own business “Baking from Scratch,” making soft chewy cookies. Miss Tonia was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She devoted most of her time caring for others and ensuring that all her loved ones were happy. She was selfless in her ways and she was a source of inspiration to many. She loved her granddaughter so much and would talk to her daily on the phone and visit when she could, as she resided in Salisbury, North Carolina with her parents. A-mist the discomfort her ailment caused, she lived a happy life and was content with all her blessings she received. She is survived by her husband Thermon Blount, her three children; Antoinette McDuffie-Cuttino, Toni McDuffie-Cuttino, Ayana McDuffie-Young, and her granddaughter Mia Rose McDuffie-Robinson. Bonus children; Larry T Young, Lashae Young and Brandi Inez Zackery, Step-Children; Jamel Blount, and Sarah Green and four Step-Grandchildren; Siblings; Chinita McDuffie, Sean (Janet) McDuffie, Darryl (Thomea) Pervis, Sharon McDuffie-Burruss, and Cousin/Sister Sonya McDuffie, Tonia is Predeceased by her Father and Mother, sister Annette McDuffie-Perry, Niece Shirley McDuffie and Niece Bryan Perry, Aunt Mary McDuffie, Grandmother Elouise and Grandfather Thurman McDuffie, Ruby Scott Grandmother, Shirley Evans and Valencia Tisdale, Father in Law James Blount. Tonia is survived by Mother in Law Mary Blount, and Sister in Laws Sharon Morgan (Norris Sr.), Valerie Wise (James), Latonya Blount- Mitchell (Larue) and Brother in Laws James Blount (Loretta). Aunt Geraldine and Brenda McDuffie and Uncle Ronald (Rhonda) McDuffie, Uncle Mertin, and Irving Brown and Aunt Mittie Jean Brown and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews and friends. All those she loved and touched deeply.
