Sheridan Jones

As much as it pleased the Almighty God in His wise providence to take out of our midst our dearly beloved sister, mother, friend, the Almighty God sent His angel to claim her. Sheridan Paige Carpenter Jones of New Haven, Connecticut transition to be with her heavenly father on Friday, July 26, 2024. Sheridan Paige Carpenter Jones (Sue) was born in Chicago Illinois on August 6, 1959. She is the daughter of Connecticut Carpenter and Bertha Jean Love Carpenter. Her family relocated to Alcoa, Tennessee where she formed lifelong friendships. As a teenager, the family moved to New Haven, Connecticut. Sheri graduated from Hillhouse High School forming a new set of lifelong friends. Sheri was hired by Southern New England Telephone Company (SNET) and worked for nearly 15 years before the restructuring of the company. This restructuring would change her career path whereby she would eventually find her niche’ at the New Haven Public Schools in the New Haven Adult & Continuing Education Center. Sheri worked in several areas until she found where she truly excelled as an Administrative Assistant in the Guidance Department in the High School Credit Diploma Program. As an Administrative Assistant, Sheri worked diligently helping countless students, teachers, administrators, and staff. She worked tirelessly at her job for 23 years and loved to talk about her grandchildren with her co-workers who were more like family. You couldn’t walk down the hall towards her office without hearing Sheri playing her Motown favorites. She was a vibrant, outspoken addition to the Adult Education family. Her presence will be sorely missed by the students, staff, teachers and administration alike. The connections that she shared with her many friends in the community are left with a void that will be difficult to fill because of her love to talk to all people. Sheri was affectionately called Sue by many. She leaves to carry on her legacy, two sons: Nathaniel Jamal (Ieshia Sydnor) Jones of Meriden, Connecticut and Curtis Sean Jones of New Haven Connecticut; a Stepson, Ronald Maurice Singleton of New Haven, Connecticut; Brothers: Lance Carpenter of West Haven, Connecticut, Philmore (Trena) Jones II of Winston Salem, North Carolina; Sister, Renee Carpenter of Fair Haven, Connecticut and a Cousin/Sister, Donna Dunnings; Aunt Zenobia Toney and Uncle Melvin Love all of Alcoa, Tennessee. Five grandchildren: Ronald (Cream) Singleton, Hillary Hill, Curon Jones, Kamron and Karson Jones; Sister-in-Love, Reverend Katrina Jones and Brother-in-Love, Reginald Jones Sr., New Haven Connecticut; Nephews: Jajuan Stewart of Massachusetts, Edgar Nakisha) Jones, Reginald Jones Jr. of New Haven, Connecticut, and Treyvon Jones of Winston Salem, North Carolina; Nieces: Jennifer N. Jones of Columbia, Maryland, Kirvanna GM Jones and Laniece Gamble of New Haven, Connecticut, Alecia Evans (Corey) of San Antonio Texas, and Ciara Jones of Winston Salem, North Carolina. Her childhood BFF, Janie Winans; longtime friend, Audrey Peoples and work little sister, Tahisha Porter. Sheri had a host of family and friends especially those that she met on her journey, too numerous to name but they are all in our hearts. Sheri was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, Ronald N. Jones (Chino); Father, Connecticut Carpenter, Mother, Bertha J. Love Carpenter, Mother-in-Love, Gwendolyn E. Newton and Nephew, Ronald K. Jones. Gone but not forgotten.
