Samuel Gomez

New Orlean Obituary: Samuel Walter Gomez, also known as (Sam, Sammy), Son of the Late Richard Gomez and Lena Gomez, passed away on November 18, 2025, at the age of 78. Samuel was born on December 11, 1946, in New Haven, Connecticut, a graduate of Hillhouse High School. Samuel was a proud Vietnam Veteran, where he served in the United States Army. He was married to his sweetheart the late Maxine Menafee. After returning home from the army he was employed at Pratt & Whitney and Winthrop Health Care Nursing Home. Soon after, Sam and Maxine started their family. They had three children. William, Tishma and Erick. Samuel lived a life of unconditional love for his family, and he devoted many years of his life serving as a volunteer to his fellow Veterans at the Veterans Hospital in West Haven. He attended Vertical church in West Haven. Sam was an accomplished artist. He was always drawing, sketching or painting phenomenal pieces of art. He was commissioned by the Veterans Administration Hospital to paint a wall mural in one of the wings in the hospital. Sam was also a member of a Veterans Travel Club. This was a group of Veterans who loved to travel and serve. Sam and his club members have traveled everywhere including Alaska and Hawaii. Sam was so excited about this group of men and the things that they did. Not only did they travel but they did volunteer work with other veterans on their travels. Sam was what you call an all-around good guy. Out of all the things that Sam enjoyed and accomplished, nothing pleased him more than to spend time with his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. He loved them so much and would take any opportunity he had to talk about them. That's what we call a doting grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memory, his brother David Gomez, of New Haven. His children, William Gomez (Jasmine), of Tampa, Fla, Erick Gomez (Tasheka) and daughter Tishma Gomez of New Haven. His also leaves his grandchildren, Kalani, Wiliam Jr, Jerrel, LaQuaya, Leana, Leasia, Leandre, Erick Jr., Ericka, Shoshanna, Sam and Tareavin. His Great grandchildren Erie, Nerah, Erick II, Kyree, Miracle, Brandon and Zion. All of whom he loved dearly. He also leaves a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. We will all miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his wife, Maxine Gomez, brother, Richard Gomez, sister, Dorothy Gomez and his parents Richard and Lena Gomez.
