Ronald Boykin Sr.

Honoring a father, brother, uncle, teacher and friend. Ronald L. Boykin Sunrise: March 19, 1963 | Sunset: August 30, 2022 “A bright ray of light whom blessed us with grace, happiness and joy. A pure soul with a giving heart, a friend to all. Will be missed by all, but never forgotten. The Lord has called him home. May his soul rest in peace.” Celebrating the late, Ronald L. Boykin Ronald L. Boykin was born to the late Helen D. Boykin and Thomas Coleman, a lady of leisure and a tradesman in New Haven, Connecticut on March 19, 1963. He was immersed in the community of culinary arts. He was renowned for his scientific approach to soul food, which would become his lifelong support for many years. His mastery of soul food was unmatched. His occupation consisted of working for multiple New Haven restaurants and the creations of soul food menus that are used to this day. One of his signature creations is the “Buffalo Honey Glaze,” which became extremely well known at various family reunions as well as in the New Haven Area. Ronald graduated from Lee-High School in New Haven. He was a devoted Christian. He attended service regularly and was always seen discussing the word of the Lord with friends and family. Ronald had great love for music and often DJ events. He was very patient, soft-spoken, non-judgmental, kind and caring. He would always give to those in need, and lend a shoulder to those didn’t have one to lean on. Ronald was blessed and adored by his loving family. He cherished the moments of creating many wonderful dishes for his loved ones, which brought him great joy and happiness watching them appreciate his skills. He would be dearly missed. Ronald L. Boykin departed this life on August 30, 2022. He was survived by his son, Ronald L Boykins Jr. His five sisters: Vivian Lambert (Damingo Lambert), Sherry Lopez, Helen Boykin (La-bay), Davita Wilson, and Francine Manning. His two brothers: Eugene Boykin and Kevin Boykin; and his grandson. His very special friend Lucy Atwater, his long-time best friend, Ralph Salemme and his best-companion, Lulu, and a host of extended family and friends. Ronald is predeceased by his parents, Helen D. Boykin and Thomas Coleman; three sisters, Pearlie J. Boykin, Patsy L. Harris, Susan R. Hooks; and three brothers, John Boykin, Terrance Boykin, Eugene Boykin (Baby Gene).
