Roger Ellison

Roger J. Ellison (affectionately known as Jimmy and Be Right Back) of Hamden, Ct peacefully entered eternal rest on Friday June. 27, 2025 while surrounded by his loving family in his final moments. He was born July 12, 1934, in Haynesville, Louisiana to the late Cleveland and Doshie Beene Ellison. Roger received his early education in the Haynesville School system until his family relocated to Arkansas, where he completed his education. Later the family moved to Argo, Illinois and then he spent a short time in Chicago. After spending a short time in Chicago, Roger followed his older brother Claude to New Haven, Ct where he married his God sent, Mary A. Ellison. Roger worked many jobs before retiring from Colonial Reality where he was a maintenance supervisor. Roger loved cooking and created the dish we all love and know as moo-lah. Roger was a wonderful cook in the kitchen where he made countless meals for his family and friends. He also enjoyed playing cards and sports; especially if it was a knicks game. Roger had a wonderful sense of humor and would put a smile on your face at the drop of a hat. He also found immense joy and fulfillment when spending time with his grandchildren. Roger carried himself with poise and was always sharp from the brim of his hat you never saw him without to the hard bottoms on his feet. Roger leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife Mary, of 48 years, daughter Tiant Coardes (Andre) of Hamden, Ct, son Freddie Stinson (Susan) of Omaha, NE. extended daughter Priscilla Harris of Charlotte NC. Also survived by Tharetta Dailey and Vesta Ree Dailey both of New Haven, Ct, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, sister Addie Green of Hamden, Ct, sister-n-laws Marie Ellison of Hamden, Ct; Coletta McBryde of Montgomery, Ala; Vernell Simmons (Jerome) of Lawrenceville, GA; Tammy Harrington (Jerome) of Montgomery, Ala; brother-n-laws Eddie Stinson Jr. (Judy); Lemorris Stinson; Martin Stinson (Jackie); Marvin Stinson; Gregory Stinson (Rene); all of Montgomery, Ala. And all of whom he loved dearly. Roger also had a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Roger was predeceased by his daughter Sandra Horn, brothers Claude Ellison Sr. and Louis Ellison, sister Eddie Mae Orange.
