Percy Simmons, Jr. { know to his friends and loves ones as “P” and Junior]. His beloved grandchildren called him “Pop, Pop, age 64 of New Haven, Connecticut, transitioned on Saturday, August 7th, The Celebration of Life service will be held on August 30th, at 11:00 am at Agape Christian Center (The Kingdom Cathedral) Bishop Willa M Moody of Agape Christian Center (The Kingdom Cathedral) will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11 am at Agape Christian Center (The Kingdom Cathedral) Funeral arrangements are being handled by McClam Funeral Home. Percy was born in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana on December 2, 1956, to Alberta Dyson Simmons and Percy Simmons Sr. At age 5 his family moved to New Haven, CT, Percy attended Sacred Heart Academy, Troup Junior High, and Richard C Lee High School. Percy graduated from Computer Processing Institute in 1989. Percy traveled many roads and befriended many people, in 1981 Percy was introduced the woman who would later become his life partner and wife, Patricia. Percy was united in holy matrimony to Patricia M Jenkins on March 7,1997, they were married 24 years. Percy worked as a certified forklift driver for several companies over years including Monroe Staffing, United Wire and Amazon in North Haven, CT. He loved to cook and grill. Percy would grill all year long. A Few of his specialties were prime rib, barbecue hamburgers and ribs. Percy was a hard-core Knick’s fan. He loved the Philadelphia Eagles and UConn’s women and men’s basketball teams. He liked watching golf and tennis. Percy enjoyed listening to all kinds of music including jazz, R&B, Hip Hop including Christian Hip Hop artist Canton Jones and LaCrae. Percy was an avid movie watcher. Percy was a member of the Agape Christian Center for over 20 years. Percy was the head of church security along with the late Eddie Jackson. Percy was ordained as a deacon in 2015. Percy will be missed by his loving spouse, Patricia, his stepson Dusan (LaToya); grandchildren- Davion, LaTifah and LaVanya; his only sister Hope; his best friends Kirk. Fred, Dart, aunts, uncles, cousins’ and other family and friends. Percy is preceded in death by Alberta Dyson Simmons; Percy Simmons Sr. and his beloved Grandson- Dusan, jr. The family of the late Percy Simmons, Jr. wishes to acknowledge with deepest appreciation the many prayers, acts of kindness, and other expressions of love and sympathy shown during our time of bereavement.
