Mozenia Archie-Ellis

On March 26, 2016, Mozenia Archie-Ellis was called to walk into the Cathedral of the most high for her coronation service to receive her Crown of Glory. Mozenia Archie- Ellis was born in Dallas North Carolina on April 18, 1925 to the late Luther and Luvenia Stowe-Archie. In 1947 she received her Bachelors of Science in Education from Fayetteville State Teachers College in Fayetteville North Carolina. And in 1948 she became the bride to the late Harry Duane Ellis and to that union they had three loving children, Donna K. Ellis (Huge Suggs) of New Haven, CT. Anthony D. Ellis (Lori Powell-Ellis) of Bristol, CT and Alfred A. Ellis of New Haven, CT. During Mozenia working career she was a substitute teacher in the New Haven Public School system and later a teacher and then Director of Newhallville Child Develop Center for the City of New Haven until her retirement. Mozenia was an active member of Dixwell Avenue Congregational United Church of Christ until her brief illness, serving on the Pastor Aid Club, Joyful Praise Choir, and as a Sunday school teacher, along with many other duties that she was called to perform. Mozenia was also a member of the Dixwell Newhallville Senior citizens prior to her illness. Mozenia’s greatest joy was her family, she also liked to travel, read, and cook and was an avid fan of the UCONN Women’s basketball team where she would not miss a televised game. An addition to her parents and husband, Mozenia was preceded in death by her sisters Ella Johnson, Catherine McNeil, Florence Wright, brothers Allen, Lenoird, George, Nacota and Luther Archie Jr. along with her in-laws, brother and sister-in-law’s. Mozenia leaves to cherish her life her granddaughters Kesha, Dena and Dana Smith, Shemeka Ellis and Precious Brown and five great grandchildren. She also leaves her in-laws, Roberta Boutselis, Patricia Thompson and Donald Ellis (Marion Ellis) all of Harrisburg, PA. as well and many nieces nephews and her Girl Friday Christine Cole and her “Golden Girls “Theodor ( Teddi) Glover, Janel Floyd and Hilda Hawkins The family of Mozenia Archie- Ellis would like to thank the nurses and staff at Yale New Haven Hospitals 9th floor East Pavilion as well as the nurses and staff at CT Hospice. You hold a special place in her as well as our hearts.
