Michael Wint

MICHAEL JUNIOR WINT, 33 of New Haven was called home to eternal rest on January 21, 2023. Michael was born on July 24, 1989 to parents Michael Wint and Joanne Wint in New Haven, CT. Michael loved family gatherings and spending time with his sons. Michael enjoyed cooking for his family, playing football, and working out at the gym. Michael was a soft-spoken man with a hearty laugh, he was a kind hearted, sweet, and caring person. MICHAEL JUNIOR WINT was very ambitious and always strived to be the best. From age 7, Michael played Pop Warner football where he was affectionately called Rodeo burger, because that was his choice of sandwich when the team was on the road. He was one of the shortest on the team so he played twice as hard, and soon became famous for his speed and defensive style. He attended St Rose Elementary, and later New Haven Public Schools where he was placed in the gifted education program. He attended Wilbur Cross High School where he excelled in academics and played on the Football team. Michael relocated to NC and graduated from Garner Senior Magnet High School. Michael returned to CT to begin his career path; he wanted a career in Real Estate. He worked while attending technical school where he graduated and later worked as an electrical apprentice. He later sold cars at a major CT dealership where he quickly became one of the top salesmen. He enrolled in his Real Estate course and passed the exam on the first attempt. He enjoyed success as a Real Estate Agent. Michael also studied business at Gateway Technical Community College. Michael was a youth worker for LEAP, and most recently worked as a staff youth mentor at Community Partners in Action, and later at Ben Haven. Michael participated in the City of New Haven’s Youth Summit, where he served as guest speaker. As a child Michael attended church regularly with his family members. He showed great interest in studying the Bible and enjoyed singing and church fellowship. He attended Faith Revival Temple with his Grandmother Sis. Peggy Minott, and he enjoyed playing his guitar and singing alongside her during praise and worship. He also attended Bible Gospel Center in Hamden, CT with his Aunt Carol. He showed great interest in studying the Bible and enjoyed singing and church fellowship, he would invite his parents and his late grandmother to church whenever she visited from Jamaica. He accepted Christ in the summer of 1998 and was baptized at age nine at Bible Gospel Center under the late Pastor John Good. In his personal life, Michael prioritized showing up for the ones he loved. Many of his friends and family knew that they could count on his support. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, but especially loved spending time with his sons. He enjoyed taking them to movies, building indoor forts, and playing outside sports activities. Michael was a loving father and took pride in his relationship with his children. Anyone who knew Michael knew how strongly his love radiated for them and how important it was to guide them into manhood. One of his biggest goals was to “see them become men.” Michael will be missed by all who loved him. Michael leaves a host of loved ones to mourn and cherish his memory. He leaves his Father, Michael Wint and Mother, Joanne Wint, he leaves his sons, Ethan Wint, and Tristan Wint; his siblings, Aaron Wint, and Saniah Wint all of New Haven, CT; Afia Wint of West Orange, NJ; Mickel Wint of Mt. Vernon, NY; Mikal Wint of Jamaica, WI.; his Grandmother Peggy Evans-Minott and Step-Grandfather Stanford Minott; his Auntie/Godmother Carol Evans, Auntie Sharon Evans, and his Uncles, James Shepard of NY, Norman Evans of MD and Tyrone Taft, Aunt Betty Taft of NC, his Step-Grandmother Carolyn Shepard; his Aunts, Ada Wooten, Sophia Brown, and Adele Shepard; Uncles Larry Wooten, and Eli Shepard of Jamaica, NY. He also leaves his girlfriend Chaiyra Archer along with a host of cousins, aunts, uncles and close friends who will cherish his loving memory and will miss him dearly. Michael was predeceased by his sister Tashanna Wint of Mt Vernon, NY, his grandmother, Lalee Bent, of Jamaica WI, and his grandfather James Shepard, his Uncles Darryl Shepard, Douglas Evans, Paul Evans, and his Aunt Cassandra Shepard. PRAYER HEAVENLY FATHER, We thank you for Michael Junior Wint’s life, and for all of the years we shared with him. We lift him to you today, in honor of the good we saw in him and the love we felt from him. Please give us the strength to leave him in your care, in the knowledge of eternal life through Jesus Christ. AMEN
