Michael A. Burke

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the Faith. 2nd Timothy 4:7 Michael A Burke was born October 28, 1948, to the late Arthur W. and Idrew Pettaway Burke in Waterbury, CT. At the age of 76, at Apple Rehabilitation in Shelton, CT Michael peacefully answered the call to take his rest after a long illness. Preceding him in death are his parents Arthur W. Burke and Idrew Pettaway Burke, his in-laws Samuel Taylor Sr. and Willa Mae Taylor, 3 brother in-laws Henry Taylor, George Taylor and Marty Taylor. The husband of Gwendolyn Burke for 20 years. Michael was loved by so many. He loved talking about his years growing up. The vacations with his family and the joy of being raised in a loving family. Michael graduated from Crosby High School in Waterbury, Connecticut. Mike had a love for sports (watching as well as playing). Michael served in the United States Army as a medic from 1969-1971 with an honorable discharge. Michael would often tell his doctors what they should be doing or how they should be doing it. Gwendolyn would let the doctors know that Michael had only come to them for a second opinion, because he thought he was the doctor, and he already knew what to do. Michael retired from Pratt Whitney with over 30 years of service as a machinist. Michael loved traveling and, visiting places such as the Carolinas, Florida, Jamaica, Bahamas, St Martin, St. John, Hawaii, just to name a few, Lots and lots of cruises. He spent some of his time watching the news, checking the stock market, and reading. His favorite author was John Grisham. Leaving to cherish his memory is his wife, Gwendolyn Burke, 2 bonus children LaTisha Clinepeat (Torrance) and Christopher Parks II, 1 bonus grandson Christopher Taylor, and 1 bonus great granddaughter Adrianna Taylor all of New Haven, CT., Sisters Alice Burke of Waterbury, CT and Anita B. Johnson (Glenford) of Cambridge. MA., One Aunt Glenda Hargett of Oriental, NG and one Uncle Apostle Dr. Alton Gibbs (Apostle Dr. Gwendolyn), Three sisters-in-laws, Elder Brenda Taylor of Arapahoe, NC, Elder Ellestine McMillan (Nathan) and Joyce Taylor, four bother in-laws: Elder Willie Gibbs (Apostle Bernice) of Northford, CT, Reverend Samuel Taylor Jr. (Norma) of Texas, Gary Taylor of Arapahoe, NC and Wyatt Taylor (Theressa) of Reelsboro, NC. A special cousin Roger Burke of New Haven, CT. A bonus sister-in-love Dorothy Vine of Wilson, NC.
