Merari Purvis

Merari Z’savia Purvis, affectionately known as “Rari” was the son of Gregory and Mardenia Purvis. He was born a twin (along with his sister Mardina) he was the first to arrive on April 17, 2001 at 8:00 am in Middletown, CT. Rari went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 4:15 pm surrounded by his loving family. Rari loved the Lord and rededicate his life and the Lord became the light of his salvation on June 2022. Rari resided and attended school both in New Britain and Meriden along with his four siblings. He was a Class of 2019 graduate of Platt High School in Meriden. He was a football player for the Platt Panthers and track team member. In school he was loved by his classmates who considered him a comedian who was often caught acting silly, joking around or locking someone up in their locker between classes. Rari was last employed by Amazon, where he worked long 12 hour shifts for the past two years. Rari was an athlete, brother, uncle, comedian, dancer and also a business man that thought like a Boss. He wanted to do everything Big… he had Big dreams, Big goals, he was just Big on Life. He was full of life, everything Rari wanted Rari would get just because he was Rari. He went after what he wanted and was determined to get it. Rari was a young humble and loving soul that would give his last to anybody that he saw struggling or needed help. It didn’t matter if he knew them or not, he’d give with no hesitation and expected nothing in return. Rari’s energy was contagious, he lit the room up when he walked in. He always wanted to have a good time and laugh. His empowering spirit touched everyone’s hearts that he met. During his battle with cancer, the Medical team would go out of their way to make sure he had everything he wanted not just what he needed, just to be in his presence. He was full of joy, because that’s what he brought to people’s lives. Rari was a hardworking young man that was a car fanatic and loved cars. His dreams were to own a Dodge Charger Scat Pack car with the loud pipes, own a five bedroom home, have eight children and live a lavish lifestyle. His Bigger than life personality left his mark on everyone he met. This young Man of Valor was loving, caring, selfless, strong and resilient to name a few of his traits. He served the community in different capacities, such as Community Service Outreach with young and elder adults. He enjoyed serving under his great-grandmother’s International Women’s Ministry. He leaves behind his parents Gregory and Mardenia Purvis, Brothers: Pierre Coffi Purvis and Savion Purvis; Sisters Mardina (Lexus Garcia, boyfriend) and Jurnii; nephew: Zion Purvis, Alex Coffi, nieces: Amina & Imani Coffi and Skyy Purvis, girlfriend, Maria Pangilinan; paternal grandparents: Betty Brooks Frayer; maternal grandparents: Hoyt & Ruth Graham; great grandparents: John & Vivian Lanier and Dr. Perneatha Sherman; Aunts: Jeanette P. Thompson, Charissa Purvis, Tanya Wilson, Simara Graham, Wanda Lewis, Carol Gosby; Uncles: Tayari Patterson, JMarcus Purvis, LaHoyt Graham, Kenny Myers, Eric S. Wilson along with many cousins, friends including the many lives he touched at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
