Maurice J. Johnson

Maurice Joseph Johnson of West Haven, CT entered eternal rest on January 21, 2020. He was born in New Haven, CT on April 1, 1979 to Arthur V. Johnson, Jr. and the late Janet H. Donelson-Mills. Mr. Johnson graduated from West Haven High School in 1997. He attended Branford Hall Career Institute thereafter. It was his many self-taught skills and the skills he learned from his father and grandfather that allowed him to work for companies throughout his life for many years, such as Davco Construction and Roofing, Safety Construction Marking Inc., Sikorsky Air Craft and Parcel Port Distributing Services. His love for carpentry and landscaping was what he was most passionate about. A true entrepreneur at heart, Maurice later started his own business called Plus Maur (More) Clean up, LLC, specializing in lawn care, snow removal and much more. Maurice married his high school sweetheart Banesha S. Johnson on July 17, 2012 at Amarante’s Sea Cliff in New Haven, CT. The two became one and were inseparable. They were married for 7 joyous years. He was the model of a great husband whom valued family and loved to put a smile on their faces; he was such a jokester. Maurice enjoyed fishing, playing chess and watching basketball; sharing knowledge obtained from educational documentaries and studying the world as we know it. He was also very enthusiastic about helping others without hesitation. In addition to his loving wife, Maurice leaves to cherish memories, one son: Maurice Joseph Johnson Jr. and two daughters: Janet-Rose Johnson and Vanessa S. Belton of West Haven, CT. Maurice is predeceased by his son Joseph Hallie Johnson, mother Janet H. Donelson-Mills, grandparents Rev. Thomas Donelson, Gladys H. Donelson and Arthur V. Johnson, Sr. He is survived by his father Arthur V. (Kim Harper) Johnson, Jr., three brothers: his twin Demetrius H. Johnson of West Haven, CT, Arthur V. Johnson, III of New Britain, CT and Joshua Harper of Charlotte, NC; three sisters: Alicia Harper of New Haven CT, Zeb (Derrick) Powell of Naugatuck, CT and Tyshon Washington of Florence, SC; one grandmother Dressie Johnson and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
