Lily Moss

Deacon Lily Mae Reed Moss: born on September 24, 1937 in Opelika, AL went home to be with the lord on Saturday October 13, 2018 in New Haven,CT. She was the widow of the late Henry Lee Moss Sr. and daughter to the late King Solomon Reed and Lessie Rowell Reed. Educated in New Haven Public Schools. She graduated from James Hillhouse High in 1956 and attended Eli Whitney in Hamden where she recieved her certification as a CNA. She retired from the Visiting Nurse Association aftermany years of working as a Home Health Aide. She was united in holy matrimony on October 13, 1956 to Henry L. Moss Sr. for 54 years, she served faithfully under the leadership of three pastors the late Reverend William Hall, Pastor Emeritus Reverend Dr. James C. Johnson and now Pastor Dr. Reverend Brian O. Bellamy. Deacon Moss Served in many capacities of the church throughout the years, at the time of her passing she was the Chairperson of the Diaconate Ministry, president of the Hall Celestial Choir President of the Missionary Society member of the Women's Ministy, Mass Choir, Childrens Church Teacher, Team two leader and New Members Orientation Instructor. She was recognized by the New Haven Register in 2004 for her leadership of the Hill North Management Team, consisting of coordination of the community garden and after school activities for the youth. In her spare time, she loved playing bingo and solving word search puzzles. Her favorite saying was "What the HAM?" Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children Henry L. Jr and Lesley Moss; brothers J B Reed and Albert Reed; her five grandchildren -- LaDrea and Kelashea Moss, Curtisy Battle- Kotey, Ciahna Battle and Tony Howell; sisters in law Mary P. Williams and Patricia Reed; her dearest friends Verna M. Sims, Lenteen Harris and grand-dog"Daisy". She was predeceased by brother J.T Williams and William Reed; sisters Gertrude Smith and Minnie Reed and leaves behind a host of relatives and friends who will all dearly miss her. Nina as result of your generous spirit and pleasant personality you ARE loved by all who knew you. You always expressed the love you had for your family, church family and community.
