Leroy Spruill

Leroy Spruill aka “the life of the party” entered eternal rest on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. He was born June 2, 1948, in New Haven, CT to the late Clarence and Mary Spruill. He was a lifetime resident of New Haven and graduated from James Hillhouse High School. Leroy was a Master Machinist at Olin Matheson Chemical Corporation, Anaconda Brass, and Bic Corporation. Leroy was a hard worker and a jack of all trades. He was a grill master, carpenter, landscaper, babysitter, driver’s education teacher, mechanic, at home companion, magician, mover and much more. He was not afraid to offer his help and assist in fixing anything and everything. Leroy was a great father, brother, friend, uncle and many other great things to many people. He loved music, dancing and singing. He also loved family time, making people laugh and celebrating life. Leroy would often be found playing the bongos, singing and being the Master of Ceremony. His favorite saying was “thank you, thank you… all night long”. His favorite song was Zoom, “I like to Fly Away” by the Commodores. Leroy was a nature enthusiast and loved being outdoors. He was a huge fan of his daughter, entrepreneur, model and clothing designer, Nicole Spruill and nephew Former World Boxing Champion, Chad Dawson. He loved to wear his Champion Breed Boxing hat and hoodie. He was a walking billboard for his son’s restaurant Jordan’s Hot Dogs and Mac. Leroy was so proud of his son Lamar Volunteer Coordinator of United Way of Southeastern, CT. There was nothing he disliked, and never complained. His spirit was contagious. He leaves to cherish his memory, son Lamar Spruill (Holly), daughter, Nicole Spruill, son, Corey Spruill (Tiphanie). Grandchildren, Sydnee, Van, Jordan, and Cortez Spruill. Sisters, Paula Jeffers (Warner), Sharon Gambrell (Marshall), and Avon Johnson. Brother, Ricardo Spruill. He leaves his long time love and ex-wife Monica Spruill. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased in death by his brother, David Spruill, nephews, Marshall Gambrell, Jr, Curtis Battle, Jr, Aunt Leronia Scott, and grandmother, Lula Mae Coleman. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. Leroy Spruill, we love you and we’ll miss you. Fly away and take your rest…
