Leola B. Myers

Mrs. Leola B. Myers (Rance or Mother Myers as she is affectionately known) was the widow of Jessie J. Myers, born October 4, 1937 in Plantersville, SC to the late Jessie and Ida James. Leola gently and quietly made her transition home on Saturday, November 19, 2016, which happened to be the same date five years ago that her only sister made her transition home. Leola was educated in the South Carolina school system and Choppee High School. Leola migrated to New Haven, Connecticut in the early fifties and worked for several employers before she began working at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in North Haven, CT where she retired after 34 years. Mother Myers accepted the Lord as her Savior and was baptized with the Holy Spirit. Before she became ill, she was a faithful member at Rock Tabernacle Ministries. After her illness she attended services at Nehemiah Day Outreach Ministries. Mother Myers loved singing in the choir and learning all she could about the Word of God and witnessing about Christ. One of her several favorite gospel songs is “Order My Steps in Your Word.” Leola had a heart of gold, willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need. Her upbeat spirit and bubbly personality made her so easy to love. She was not shy about letting you know how she felt about anything. Leola was very family oriented, she made sure that her children and grandchildren came together for holidays and special occasions. She instilled in her family the importance of accepting Christ and loving one another; her children and family meant the world to her. She will truly be missed. Our beloved Leola leaves to cherish a lifetime of fond memories, her children: Dave (Charra) James, Kenneth (Gwendolyn) Myers and Patricia Frazier of Hamden, CT Janet (Clinton) McCarter, Samantha (Charles) Galberth of New Haven, CT and Willie Myers of West Haven, CT (1) brother, Nathaniel James (18) grandchildren (14) great grandchildren, (4) sisters-in-law Christine Greene, Alice Barnes, Pearlene Ford and Brenda Dease (1) godson Charles James and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Jessie J. Myers, parents Jessie & Ida James, (4) brothers Ervin, Henry and Melvin James and Arthur Carl Myers (1) sister Oneatha Myers & Grandson Stanley Myers.
