Jason Goodson

Jason Goodson was unapologetically himself. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1981, Jason was raised by his mother and attended New Haven Public Schools during his upbringing. And later in life, Jason attended trade school, where he obtained the certification to become a mechanic. Jason was a man with an undeniable drive to learning, with no restrictions on subject or field. In his time, there is not a day that you would not find him delving into something, whether that be a book in his car, his favorite radio station, NPR, or the numerous YouTube channels he frequented; Jason had a thirst for knowledge. Hours of his life were spent watching Nature documentaries, combing through video after video on assorted historical topics, researching politics, reading the news, and learning how mechanisms work, whether it be arms or cars (both of which he had a great love for). Jason was also an avid fan of the sport of airsoft, in which he spent many of his days reading and researching to expand his ever-growing collection. Yet, besides his myriad of personal hobbies, Jason was first a father and family man. His life was spent caring for his four children and giving them all that he could. From taking his sons on journeys to the flea market and bringing his kids each and every morning to school, to always being there for haircuts or to patch up a small nick or wound, Jason was there. He was always there. He was selfless. He was caring. He was funny. He was lighthearted. He was humble. And above all, he was loving. Jason is preceded by his father, Alan Goodson Sr., and his brother, Alan Goodson Jr. He is survived by his lifelong lover and partner, Crystal Deleon, his daughter, Asia (Jayquan) Hunter, and his granddaughter and future grandson: Khila Johnson, and Million Johnson; his oldest son, Jason (Takeira) Goodson and his future granddaughter Tarajaé Goodson, and his younger sons, Omare Goodson, and Asa Goodson. He as well lives in the memory of his mother, Georgia Green, his sisters: Adrienne Green, Pamela Green, Perhonda Goodson, and Shani Goodson; and his brother, Troy Goodson. He is also left in the mind of his mother-in-law, Theresa Deleon, and his numerous cousins, nieces/nephews, and family members. There will be a viewing for Jason on Friday, January 16th, at Ebenezer Chapel starting at 10 AM. After, there will be a service for him starting at 11 AM, a balloon release at 12:30 PM, and a repass which will occur after the service. We live on, with Jason in both our minds, and our hearts, as he is a soul that will never be forgotten.
