James Perkins Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

James A. Perkins of New Haven died October 11, 2007 at home. Funeral Services will be held at Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church 1324 Chapel St, New Haven Thursday October 18, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Calling hours will begin at 9:00 a.m. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Calling hours will be held at McClam Funeral Home on Wednesday October 17th, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. friends and family are invited. James A. Perkins, 79, a resident of New Haven, entered into eternal rest at home on October 11, 2007. Mr. Perkins was born in Cuthbert, GA on July 7, 1928, to the late Johnnie Mae West-Ellis, a Georgia school teacher, and the late Alex ?Buddy? Perkins, a Georgia funeral director and mortician. Mr. Perkins served in the Korean War, attended Morehouse College and the Atlanta School of Embalming before opening Perkins Funeral Home in 1963. Mr. Perkins dedicated his life to serving the New Haven community and was a member of the International Free and Accepted Mason. Beloved father, Mr. Perkins was survived by two daughters Alexis W. Perkins and Sharon Perkins Boyd both of New Haven, CT. Three Grandchildren Mychal Boyd of Hamden, CT, Deveron A. McLaughlin and Maceo Troy Streater of New Haven, CT, and one great-granddaughter Denaja M. McLaughlin, as well as a host of other close friends and family members. Mr. Perkins was predeceased by his wife Wilhelmina V. Hilton. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 1324 Chapel Street, New Haven. Calling hours will be held at 9 a.m. until time of service. Interment in Beaverdale Memorial Park. viewing hours will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. at the McClam Funeral Home, 95 Dixwell Ave. New Haven, CT.
