Jalen Isaiah Jordan

Jalen Jordan, loving son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, godson, and friend, passed away on July 17th, 2022. Jalen was born on November 27, 2000, in New Haven, Connecticut to LaToyia Jordan and Jason Talley, Sr. Jalen is going to be remembered for always being kind, always willing to help and most times putting others before himself. Jalen had a great love of children, and they loved him back just the same. He had a great personality, a gentle spirit, he had a great sense of humor, he was creative and enjoyed using art to express himself. Above all else he was very compassionate and caring towards others that were facing challenges even though he was facing his own. Jalen’s love and connection for and with his sisters were out of this world. He had a passion for football and played as a youth through to high school, he played for James Hillhouse High School wearing #72. Jalen loved swimming so much that he became a certified lifeguard. He loved all kinds of music and singing, especially the “oldies but goodies” and Spanish music. One of his favorite songs to sing was Candy Rain by Soul for Real. Throughout Jalen’s teen years he volunteered at Stetson Library in New Haven, he also did volunteer work at a local soup kitchen and did outreach with his family for the homeless. Jalen also worked to bring change in his community and among his peers through his participation in a community program called Ice the Beef. He leaves behind his parents, LaToyia Jordan and Darryl Pervis of New Haven, CT and Jason Talley, Sr. of West Haven, CT, grandparents, Nodella Jordan of Baltimore, MD, Jerome and Mary Talley and Earl Carthens all of West Haven, CT; god-parents, Kelvin and Theresa Mitchell, Sr. of Naugatuck, CT, brothers, Jason Talley, Jr., Isaiah Irizarry, and Jahquez Borrelli, god-brothers, Kelvin Mitchell, Jr. and Joseph Mitchell of Naugatuck, CT, sisters, Jaziah Alexander-Jordan, Ajanae Jordan-Pervis and Janaya Talley all of New Haven, CT. Jalen leaves behind a close acquaintance, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Jalen was a graduate of James Hillhouse High School Class of 2021. He was employed at Chipotle and Dunkin Donuts. Jalen was a member of Empowerment Christian Church under the leadership of Pastor Corey Saulsbury of New Haven, CT. Jalen was predeceased in death by his great grandparents, James and Deardra Jordan, aunts, Nodjua Jordan and Valencia Tisdale, and uncle, Garfield Smith. Funeral Services will be held at The New Trinity Temple COGIC, 285 Dixwell Avenue, New Haven, CT on Monday, August 1, 2022. Viewing is at 10:00 am and funeral service is at 11:00 am. Immediately following, there will be a releasing of doves. There will be no graveside service. The family will receive guests in the fellowship hall of The New Trinity Temple COGIC lower level Jalen lives on in the hearts and minds of his family, friends and many who knew him.
