Isadore Chisem

In Loving Memory of Isadore “Izzy” Chisem February 17, 1941 – April 25, 2026 Isadore “Izzy” Chisem, 85, of Colchester, passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital on Saturday, April 25, 2026, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Born on February 17, 1941, in Pravo, Alabama, Izzy was the beloved son of the late Grace Chisem (Wright) and James Pippin. He graduated from Aracoma High School in West Virginia and later continued his education in New Mexico. Izzy proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. After relocating to Connecticut, he dedicated his life to public service. He first served as a police officer with the Middletown Police Department before continuing his career with the Connecticut Department of Labor, where he worked faithfully for many years. Affectionately known as “Izzy” to family and friends, he lived a life filled with warmth, laughter, pride, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. Above all else, Izzy’s greatest joy was his family. He found happiness in life’s simple but meaningful moments — attending birthday celebrations, sharing stories and laughter at home, taking memorable trips to Florida, and bringing everyone together every summer for his beloved Fourth of July cookouts. Those gatherings became cherished traditions filled with food, music, love, and togetherness, reflecting the heart of the man Izzy truly was. Izzy also had a deep love for sports. A devoted fan of the UConn Huskies men and women’s Basketball and the WNBA Connecticut sun, he proudly held season tickets. His passion for sports extended far beyond the stands. Izzy found tremendous joy in coaching at Bacon Academy, where he mentored young athletes with patients, encouragement, and pride. While he cherished the championships, his teams achieved, he treasured even more the relationships he built and the positive impact he had on the lives of the young people he coached. Izzy leaves to cherish his memories; Sons- Carl Chisem (Mary) of Middletown CT, Marvin Chisem of Manchester CT, Christopher Liedel (Shelly) of New Britain, CT Daughters- Sharon White (James) of Cromwell CT Stephanie Chisem of Middletown, CT 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. Besides his parent Izzy was predeceased by Son Derek T Chisem, Brothers Bruce Chisem, James E. Oliver.
