Evangelist Georgia E. Johnson

Evangelist Georgia Etta Johnson was born on April 7, 1943 to the late George Kinnion and late Mandy Jennings (Anderson). She was raised in Selma and Birmingham Alabama where she met and married Gerry Johnson the father of her children. Georgia moved to Connecticut in the early 70’s where she worked for many years as a homemaker, seamstress, baker, and cook. Georgia was a lifelong member of Church of Christ Deliverance under the leadership of Pastor Mary Graham and Elder Julie McCrea, there she delivered Sunday sermons and sang some of her favorite songs. Georgia was the family’s historian, she shared the family’s rich history every chance she got, she also encouraged and showed love and compassion to whomever she came in contact with. Georgia leaves to cherish her memories, • Two daughters: Linda (husband/Ernest) Williams and Jeanette Johnson, granddaughter Shavon Johnson, two grandsons Clinton Gaye III, and Frank Turnage Jr. and four great-grandchildren Amiyah Lewis, Clinton Gaye Jr., Clinque Gaye, Malichai Gaye, all in New Haven, CT • Seven sisters: Helen Jennings-Carter and Frances King in Birmingham, AL, Pastor Mary (husband/Gary) Graham and Elder Julie McCrea (Henry) in New Haven, CT, Geraldine Brown (Ron) in Coral Springs, FL, Earline Chandler and Joanne Chandler in Selma, AL • Nine brothers: Willie (wife/Rhonda) Stallworth, Anderson Jennings and Joseph Kinnion in Birmingham, AL, Hercules Jennings, Roscoe Jennings and Jodie Jennings in New Haven, CT, Willie Kinnion in Louisville, KY, Sammie Chandler and John Henry Kinnion in Selma, AL, and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, family, and friends. Georgia was predeceased by her parents and four siblings Mary Lee Kinnion, Ozetta Kinnion, Levy Kinnion, and George Kinnion Jr. “Talking about a child that do love Jesus here is one.” was one of her favorite songs and one of her favorite scriptures was (Psalm 103:1) “Bless the Lord O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. The daughters would like to give a special thanks to cousin Fannie Cadell, Apostle Roosevelt McCrea, MaryAnn Thomas, and Margaret Thomas who supported their mother from beginning until the end. The family would also like to thank “EVERYONE” for their prayers, love, and support during this time. God’s Promise: And God shall wipe the tears from the eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any pain; for the former things are passed away. ………………………………………………………. “Somewhere beyond the sunset; She will see the Savior we adore; She will fall and worship at His feet, and reign with Him forevermore.”
