The beloved George Charles White, affectionately known as "Chicken George" and "Sweets" was called home to be with the Lord on September 5, 2026, peacefully at his home. George leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and community spirit that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. Born on March 27, 1953, in Bertie County, North Carolina. He was the cherished son of the late Raymond Mitchell and Mandy White. His roots in North Carolina were a fundamental part of his identity, instilling in him a deep sense of family and faith. George moved north with his mother when he was child and attended school in New York and later relocated to Middletown, CT. He graduated from Middletown High School, where his vibrant spirit began to shine. George previously worked at Mount Sinai, EIS and retired after 35 years of service as a jet engine mechanic at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, where he was known for his hard work and commitment. In his community, he served as an usher at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church before becoming a member of Zion First Baptist Church, where he participated in the Men’s Ministry, embodying his faith through service. He was a devoted family man, meeting his beloved wife, Bessie White in 1975, a partnership that would blossom over the decades with marriage in 2012. George was a man of many interests and passions. He loved playing baseball and football, proudly cheering for his favorite teams, including the New York Yankees and the New England Patriots. A true king of the dance floor, he was often found joyfully dancing to classics like Hole in the Wall, Flashlight, and Let’s Groove, his laughter filling the air and bringing joy to family gatherings. His classic van, lovingly named “Chicken George” was a testament to his unique personality, along with his beloved yellow Buick Riviera were always polished and ready for a weekend adventure. George’s infectious smile and distinctive laugh left a mark on everyone he met. He took pride in his appearance, dressing from head to toe in matching outfits, including his shoes, reflecting his vibrant character. His love for travel, especially to North Carolina with his wife, brought him immense joy as they created lasting memories together. George was preceded in death by his beloved maternal grandparents James and Rosebud (Cherry) White, paternal grandparents Odell and JT Raynor, his devoted parents Raymond Mitchell and Mandy White and his sister Della Miller. He is survived by his devoted wife Bessie White. His three sons: Charles White of Bristol, CT, LaGray (Jackie) Mention of New Britain, CT, and Kenneth White of Middletown, CT. Along with a special niece who was like a daughter to him Felicia Lee of Windsor, CT. His legacy also includes his six cherished grandchildren Teasha Leary of New Britain, CT, Briannia Callendar of Charlotte, NC, Israel White of New Haven, CT, Autumn White of Bristol, CT, Naiome White of Bristol, CT, Trinity Mention of New Britain, CT, and one great-grandchild Tyashia Leary of Meriden, CT. George’s dear siblings are Willis (Colette) Wilson of Middletown, CT and Judy Miller of Baltimore, MD. His siblings-in-law are Willie D. McKnight, Gennes (Willie) Hayes, Ruby Brunson, Margaret (Willis) Brown, Josephine Lee, and Mary (Leevern) Burroughs. George has two godchildren, Willie Hayes Jr. of East Hartford, CT and Tierionna Wilson of Petersburg, VA. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and a multitude of dear friends. George Charles White was a man who lived life to the fullest, embracing family, faith, and community with open arms. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of his family and friends. While we mourn his absence, we celebrate the incredible life he lived, knowing that he now rests in the loving arms of his Savior.
