Frederick Graham

Frederick Garry Graham peacefully transitioned home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 20, 2024. Garry, as he was called by family and close friends, the son of the late Leroy and Ethel Montgomery, was born on November 1, 1951, in Jamaica Queens, NY. He spent his early childhood years with his grandmother, the late Clara Graham Brown and his God parents, the late Sammie and Elise Graham in Hendersonville, SC before joining his parents in New Haven, CT, where he received his formal education in the New Haven Public School System. Garry worked hard to provide for his family, working many years as a Machine Operator for various companies, including U.S. Steel, Handy and Harmon and Standard Beef from Connecticut to New Jersey. Garry’s love for family was evident and he enjoyed checking in with everyone on a regular basis. If you missed a call, you had better call him back or he’d keep calling until he reached you. No matter the distance, he made sure everyone knew he’d be there if needed. Garry also loved music and big cars and in his younger years could often be found riding and rocking to the tunes of his all-time favorite entertainer James Brown as he visited family. In more recent years, Garry accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was proud of his salvation and took his walk with the Lord very serious. His favorite scripture was Matthew 10:39 “He who finds his life shall lose it; and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.” Garry leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 47 years, Elder Mary Graham, one daughter, Tonya (Travis) Pugh of Federalsburg, MD, three sons, Gary Graham of West Haven and Ronald and Isaac Graham of New Haven, seven grandchildren, Alexis (Jayson) Harmon of Washington, DC, Alisa, Nakia and Shayla Brown of Federalsburg, MD, Arionna Graham of New Haven, Amir Graham of West Haven, Ronald Graham Jr. of Bridgeport, CT and eight great grandchildren Jayden, Josiah, Jayda, Jordan, Jael, Jaz, Jaliyah and Journee. One sister Rose (Rev. James) Carraway of Kingstree, SC and God-Sister WillieMae Gadsden of Hendersonville, SC. Two aunts, Mabel (Joe) Gibbons of Anchorage, AK and Judy (Andrew) Howard of West Haven, one uncle Esdon (Bernice) Brown of Jacksonville, FL, great-aunt Perinella (Pearl) Lewis of Poughkeepsie, NY, sisters in law Julie (Henry) McCrea, Hamden, CT and Geraldine (Ronald) Brown of Coral Springs, Florida, Rhonda Stallworth and Helen Carter of Birmingham, AL, Janice Brown of Columbia, SC, brothers in law Roscoe and Jody Jennings of New Haven and Joseph Kinnion of Birmingham, AL, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including cousins who were like siblings, Dottie (Roscoe) Staton and Pearl Graham. Garry was predeceased by his parents, his brother Ronald Brown, grandparents Tillman and Clara Brown and his in-laws Anderson and Mandy Jennings.
