Evelyn Cousins

Evelyn Catherine Cousins was born on September 17, 1949, in Newport News, Virginia, to the late Willie Lloyd Cousins and Evelyn Catherine Marshall-Cousins. On August 24, 2025 she peacefully departed this earth, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and resilience. In her late teens, she moved to New Haven, Connecticut, alongside her sisters, where she would begin building a life full of love, laughter, and legacy. She graduated from Richard C. Lee High School in 1968, where her yearbook was filled with heartfelt messages from classmates who adored her. Evelyn's warm spirit and natural ability to connect with others followed her throughout her life. She enrolled in the United States Navy after she granduated and was Honorably Discharged. She had a gift for numbers and was well-known for her love of the lottery. She never forgot a birthday, and with booklets full of numbers and memories, she always played with confidence and more often, she played to win. Evelyn dedicated over five decades of her life to Pratt & Whitney, where she worked faithfully for just two months shy of 53 years. During her career, she earned numerous awards and was proudly inducted into Pratt's Quarter Century Club. Her work ethie and dedication left an example of strength and resilience for her family and all who knew her. Beyond her career, Evelyn was a pillar of love, generosity, and support. She never hesitated to help others — whether family, friends, or even strangers. She built lifelong friendships everywhere she went and was truly a blessing to countless lives. Evelyn was known as someone who was always just one phone call away. She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted daughter, Charlise Cousins; her loving grandchildren, Edward Wright, Tylise Cousins-Mason, and Eric Carr Jr.; her cherished great-grandchildren, Kahlil Wright, Dillyn Coburn, Royce Williams, and Eden Wright; her siblings David (Roberta) Cousins, Walter (Barbara) Cousins, John (Everlena) Cousins, Wilbert(Daphne) Cousins, William (Clejetta) Cousins, Bettie Muhammad, Malinda Cousins, Sheila Beale, Chiquita Morgan(Allen) and Aleasa Taylor; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and Special friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Willie and Evelyn Cousins. Three brothers Willie Edward Cousins, Lloyd Cousins and Robert Cousins. Evelyn will forever be remembered for her generosity, her humor, her wisdom, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her legacy of strength and kindness will live on through her family for generations to come.
