Earline Dunmore

Earline Jenny Josephine Dunmore was the last child born to the late Rena Bell Torry-Wright and Richard U. Wright Sr. She was born in the 7th Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana, on April 7, 1935. Earline accepted Christ at an early age while attending Beecher Memorial Congregational United Church of Christ with her mother and siblings. Earline attended Valencia C. Jones Elementary School and Joseph S. Clark High School in New Orleans, LA. Earline left New Orleans in 1954 and moved to Bronx, NY. Earline would go on to work various jobs: Strickler’s Department store, as a personal shopper, and then working 17 years, at Greyhound Bus Lines, Earline would later retire from that job. She did not stay retired long. Earline went on to work her way to Head Cook at the Marble Hill Senior Center, under the direction of Dan Schmidt. Most center attendees were quite fond of her cooking and witty personality. In her leisure time Earline enjoyed cooking, puzzle books, traveling the world as far Jerusalem, and spending time visiting her siblings, and her nieces and nephews in Chicago, Los Angeles and New Orleans. Earline departed this life on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, in addition to her parents, her husband Jon Anthony Dunmore, she is preceded in death by her four sisters; Infant sister Francis Wright (1920), Alberta Garrett (2010), Ada Mae Wright (2017) and Dorothy Landor (2021). Three brothers; Richard U. Wright Jr. (1989), Edward “Bossman” Wright (2019), and Earl Wright (2021) and Godchild Linda Constantine. Brothers-in-law Charles Garrett (Alberta), Lloyd Brown (Ada), Melvin Landor (Dorothy), and Francis Dunmore. Sisters -in-law Dorothy Mae Morris (Richard Jr.), Celestine Doucette Wright (Richard Jr.), Audrey Jones (Edward), Gloria Dean Rankin (Edward) and Elizabeth St Cyr and Ruby Washington (Earl), Betty Flowers and Julia Whitmore. She leaves to cherish her memory her only child Betty Elaine Wright. Grandchildren: Michael McKinney Jr. (Sharissa), Jonathan Wells (Marjolein) and Eric Wells. Great grandchildren Amber McKinney, Madison McKinney, Deja Johnson, Michael McKinney III, Marley McKinney and one great-great granddaughter Leilani McKinney Grimes, and sister-in-law Joy Harris. She also leaves a special niece who was like a sister to her, Willie Mae Holmes of Chicago, IL., God-Daughter Jacqueline Jones of Chicago, IL. Son-in-law Floyd R. Wells Jr., Nephews Michael Wright and Sidney Landor both of New Orleans, Richard Z. Wright of Las Vegas, NV, Earl X. Wright of Seattle, WA and Richard U. Wright III and Burnell Wright of Los Angeles, CA. Special friends: Theresa Jones and Elizabeth “Liz” Watkins of Bronx, NY, and a special sister friend: Acelen Eure of Costa Rica, She also leaves Rita Wright, Brady, Rochelle, Shawn, Kandi, Iman “Kelly”, Kurtis, Joni, Keri, Harold, and Kent, as well as six generations of nieces and nephews and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
